A few years back an incredible discovery was made in a creek in east central Mississippi. We’ve wanted to share this story with you for a while. The finder, Mr. Gerry Powers has graciously given us an interview to share his story with us so we can share it with you. We know you will enjoy these incredible details of the largest cache blade find in the state of Mississippi. It is unlikely this record will be broken any time soon, if ever. Yep that's the stuff dreams are made of for sure! I've only found 1 cache and it was 6 hammer stones and nutting stones lined up in 2 rows from smallest to largest. New york state the town of wellsville new york.. The river I went with a few friends. And we found quite a few arrow heads in the river.. As well as a farmers field.. After they got done plowing the field, we was allowed out there to find arrow heads and spearheads.. I found a pounding stone.. That thing was in the river.. We had a blast doing it .. The man's name was norman ives.. Is full blood seneca .. The seneca nation of indians.. That man was fun to be with.. He's been gone for quite a while and I miss going out and doing this.. Right now i'm stuck stranded in arkansas.. Not too sure where to go around here..

Photos of the cache were shared around with several professional archaeologists, the consensus was they are likely Middle Archaic. The creek produced points from late Paleo (Dalton) all the way up through Woodland, many pottery sherds also, so there's a little bit of everything in there.

I watch your video s but have never commented. But I just had to when I saw it was 115 blades cache. I live in East Tennessee and have hunted for 40 years . I found a cache of 42 blades early in my career in January 86 only 2 were particularly showing at waters edge, I felt around in the water about a 3 foot area, most were in a 2 foot area. Looked the spot every since 86 found no more. 36 years later in November 2022, I saw 2 inches of what was a 4.5 inch by 3 inches wide at the base blade. Pick it up and underneath was another one and one on it s edge, they were just stacked on each other all in a tite 1.5 foot area. There were basically 3 different sizes the largest on top and the smallest on bottom. The number 115 and 1 arrowhead don't really know if it was part of it or not but it was rite with the blades. So it did happen twice in a lifetime but it was nearly a lifetime between the two finds.
