India is now home to the largest statue in the world, so I went to check it out! It's called the Statue of Unity and is located 1.5 hours from Vadodara in the Indian state of Gujarat.
A lot has been said about the cost and waste of money the Statue of Unity is... But let's focus on Sardar Patel and who he was in this video. Because, to be honest, not many foreigners know who he is and how important he was in the history of India.
I totally forgot there was a full laser show at night! I wish I had have stayed and watched it. I'll go back and cover it next time.

Ow, I thought you would've known! Do you follow an Indian newspaper? That'll keep you up-to-date with such things - it was a big news item here 1 year ago. All I know is that it's 2 hours from Vadodara, but it must be close to Ahmedabad too. There's lots of high-qaulity tour buses going there daily.

It's around 100 km from Vadodara from where you can take private cab or bus. Vadodara is very well connected by railway and flights from Mumbai and Delhi.

Watching your videos makes me feel like I’m in India. I live in Cali so I don’t get to visit often. I love the environment in India. It just has a different feel and smell to it which gives me that warmth feeling. I visit once every 6-7 years for a month to visit family with my parents such a sort amount of time and too much to do with family. Thnx for videos.

Please also visit other attractions around the statue like Unity wild safari, unity Zoo, unity nursery, unity park for children, laser shows and a lot more, it would take 2-3 days to cover all the attractions there. This was a huge project, not just the statue. :)

You went early, many development has happened in the area in recent months and it is made as tourist spot to stay 2-3 days and explore. Btw, statue cost is not 3000 crores, it’s statue + maintenance of statue for 15 years. Gujarat gov spend 500 crore (2012-15) and Central gov (2015) gave 200 crore, while rest money is private investment. L&T made the lowest bid to built the statue+15 year maintenance for 2989 crore. - ₹1,347 crore was earmarked for the main statue, - ₹235 crore for the exhibition hall and convention centre, - ₹83 crore for the bridge connecting the memorial to the mainland and - ₹657 crore for the maintenance of the structure for a duration of 15 years after its completion. In social media, there are lots of non-sense spread by few people and even by some prominent people who have more than millions followers....
