Larissa Kovalchuk & Reuben de Melo from Team LeAnn sing 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen in The Battles of The Voice Australia season 13 in 2024. #thevoiceaustralia #thebattles #leonardcohen
That was just beautiful. I love when 2 totally different styles come together and this is what we get. It kind of reminded me of when Freddie Mercury sang Barcelona with Montserrat Caballe. It’s just amazes me.
This will be replayed millions of times worldwide. What a surprising and beautiful incongruity. Reuben was outstanding, and one wonders what choices are available with Larissa's voice and instrument. Nevertheless, art is captured and appreciated in unforgettable moments and this was surely one.
I'd come to Larissa's concert if I have an opportunity. Her voice with her instrument when she started gave me chills. What crystal clear beautiful voice. It doesn't hurt I studied Bell Canto before I began to sing professionally so I have inclinations for trained voices. But in the context of the Voice Reuben's style would appeal more to larger audience.
I really hate this awkward pause of the host calling for last chance to save. I've watched The Voice Us, UK and Australia for years but don't recall there being this awkward pause. Usually, the host asks the contestant for any last words and if there's a save it would happen then or on their way out. This pause is just cringey. The contestant deserves more than this.
I agree, it works best when the losing contestant is invited to say some last words to their coach. No awkward pauses and the contestant isn’t humiliated.
Reuben is 🔥. Love him and his voice. Him doing that song with most anyone but Larissa would have been phenomenally stunning ! Again, only MY humble opinion !
I think it's entirely unfair to both contestants when you pair two completely different styles of singing that is so extreme! It would be my guess that others feel the same way. You should be comparing the same style, IMO, because there have been much better singers who didn't have a chance of being saved when neither in another pairing was better than the one who couldn't be saved. If the coaches know that they would never choose one particular style over other styles, then they shouldn't be giving them false hopes by turning their chairs for them in the first place. It never fails that the type of singer this woman is is never chosen as the winner of a battle. When this is always the case, that means the Voice should be honest from the start and invite auditions by only the styles you will advance. I agree that Reuben is an awesome singer with a unique voice that I like, and I would've chosen him, too, but that is mainly because I don't enjoy Larissa's style unless it's in a play or opera, not on an album. There are opera singers I do enjoy on recordings, but they're all male.
The only thing that I find unique with this situation was a wouldn't have stumbled across the females song because she is more Oprah singing than what is normally On a show like this. Now a days there isn't a significant amount of Oprah talented singers out there like there is like singers like reuben. Good singer but not unique lots of them out there.
I don’t think they should be asking for a save because the coaches know they have a save and they were use it if they want to or feel they should. But that’s very awkward and embarrassing for the host to say that and then there’s crickets. You need to stop doing that it’s not necessary.
