Seit 2005 machen die beiden Schwestern Rebecca und Megan Lovell gemeinsam Musik. Starke Harmonien, Slide-Gitarre und klassische Southern Rock-Elemente treffen bei Larkin Poe hin und wieder auch auf heavy E-Gitarren-Riffs, was der Band Vergleiche mit den Allman Brothers einbrachte.
Aufgewachsen in Georgia machen Rebecca und Megan zunächst gemeinsam mit ihrer älteren Schwester Jessica Musik im Akustik-Trio The Lovell Sisters. Nach vier Jahren inklusive Tourneen und selbst produzierten Alben löst sich die Band 2009 auf. 2010 kommen Megan und Rebecca wieder zusammen und taufen die neue Band nach ihrem Ur-Ur-Urgroßvater Larkin Poe, angeblich ein Cousin des berühmten Schriftstellers Edgar Allan Poe.
Nach einigen in Eigenregie veröffentlichten EPs und Mitwirkungen auf Alben befreundeter Bands unterschreiben die Schwestern 2013 einen Plattenvertrag. 2014 erscheint Larkin Poes Debütalbum "Kin". Ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Produzent T Bone Burnett macht sie bekannter, und 2014 und 2016 spielen Larkin Poe auf dem Glastonbury Festival in England. 2017 sind Larkin Poe die Backingband von Stars wie Jackson Browne und Don Henley beim Tom Petty-Tribut-Konzert von "MusiCares" in Los Angeles. Ihr Album "Venom & Faith" aus dem Jahr 2018 erreichte Platz 1 der Billboard Blues-Album-Charts und wurde für einen Grammy als "Best contemporary blues album" nominiert.
2020 erschien "Self Made Man" und erreichte ebenfalls Platz 1 der Billboard Blues-Album-Charts. Noch im selben Jahr erschien mit "Kindred Spirits" ein Coveralbum mit Songs von u.a. Lenny Kravitz, Phil Collins, Neil Young und Elvis Presley. 2022 erschien das sechste Album "Blood Harmony".

70 years old, and I discovered Larkin Poe only a few weeks ago! I've been listening to everything I can find of them ever since. What a stunningly good band - I haven't been so impressed by an American act since I discovered Little Feat back in the 70s - these young women and their band are up there in the same league!

Although they have the old sound, they aren't repeating the old music. Their songs and riffs are new to my ears. Rebecca and Megan both have their own styles. I can hear their continuing development every year. I feel like Rebecca's guitar playing has elevated to a new level this year. If you can, check them out live - it's a treat.

LP is not the first band for the Lovell ladies. Listen to the music they made as The Lovell Sisters when they were in high school, along with their older sister Jessica. They have gone from bluegrass to blues.

Larkin Poe has had at least 3 drummers over the years . This show deliberately does not play Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues where the new guy constantly falls short of great . Kevin the previous drummer was fantastic metronome like machine at Ringo Star like skill level . This guy is good enough replacement as long as they keep Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues off the playlist. The sub. Dividing on that requirement is very steep .

The best LP concert. The girls are in great form and really enjoy themselves, the recording is of tthe best quality. German TV has done an excellent job with the editing and the sound is A1 throughout. Even the audience is great.Thanks for the great music! So rare these days.

I looked up Larkin Poe after they won the Grammy. I'm a big fan of Jesse Dayton and Samantha Fish and wanted to know who beat them. Happy to say there very good and deserved the Grammy. Looking forward to seeing them in Houston one day.

WDR Rockpalast you never disappoint. Stunning filming. I'm on stage with Larkin Poe. Saw them in Paris in October 2023 with this show. So professional. Perfect sound. Rebecca and Megan should have been the Time people of the year. Sorry Swifties. They played with Blackberry Smoke at the '23 Homecoming. Hope you'll have Blackberry Smoke again, too. First time I have heard of them and first time I hear them. I am having one of thoes nights just roaming about and everything I have listened to has been exceptionally good. For some reason I am getting a Rory Gallagher feeling from this I think its the endings when the song is over it is nailed bang and the slide is totaly on the note not , looking for it. I wonder what I will land on next I think it's going to be all good stuff , I will have to write them down. Before this I WAS getting big names playing together and having a blast with each other and bringing out the best in each other and smiling like nowing your good and thinking well I will remember this gig forever and so will everyone here tonight the band will be glad they turned up for this one. I won't forget watching and hearing this glad I turned up and its free.

A bit of trivia ... Larkin Poe is their great great great great grandfather, who was a cousin of Edgar Allen Poe. Larkin owned a farm in North Georgia, not far from Chattanooga. The farm was burned by the Confederates during the Battle of Chickamauga, one of the most significant battles of the Civil War. Angry about losing his farm, Larkin, a Confederate teamster, took his family north to escape, switched sides and joined the Union Army, supporting the Union for the rest of the war.

I discovered these fantastic sisters in 2017 and have followed them ever since. So glad to see a grammy finally in their hands and with proper media attention they should be the hottest music act of 2024. Rebecca is a dynamite singer and Megan's excellent slide guitar and harmony vocals are the icing on the cake. Pathetic that the media doesn't want this type of music to get through to the masses and so bubblegum pop is all you are allowed to hear. Any clueless music fan who thinks Swift or Cyrus have anything on these kick ass sisters have no appreciation for true talent or musicianship. When bubblegum pop is all they know, wake em up with LARKIN POE!

Ich habe sie 2023 verpasst, weil mir Köln zu weit weg war - dann habe ich dieses Video gesehen und hätte mich selbst in den Allerwertesten treten können....dieses Jahr habe ich mit Tickets gesichert!
