@@hamishcounsell5579 agreed: his passion for these topics is just brilliant and is what makes his segments so good; he wouldn't get the opportunity to do that much in the broadcast booth. We just need MORE LARKO
To be frank I loved the parity wars era. It drove innovation and genuinely influenced the outcome of car sales which made buying a road car all that more personal
I can't imagine Supercars without Larko and his child like enthusiasm for the sport. No one else on the commentary team provide as much information on the cars and teams like him. Keep the laughs and info coming Larko!
Larko excellent enthusiasm very infectious, we cant wait for the back to the Future Gen 3 real deal V8 cars to return...and its a VH 05 banger not a VK (3.15s) thanks for the memory slides though. I think what is important with GEN3 is it not all about the engineer winning the race, now more so the drivers - and they will be a handful to drive and watch. Cheers.
This is where Supercars becomes truly international. This is gonna be one of the most entertaining motorsport series in the world. I can't wait! Big up from Blighty.
I can listen to this guy talk cars all day mate this man is totally necessary for the supercars broadcast, guys a ledgend ,could drive too ,good luck larko👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
OMDays!! My partner & I couldn't help totally L-ingOL for ages after watching this!! Always loved Larko's commentary, but I think I may have a total man-crush now!!!! I'm from Scotland, but I really believe that Australia should now be referring to Larko as "a National Treasure"!!! ROFLMAO!!! So so so fantastic - thanks so much to Supercars for sharing - you've made my MONTH!! Warmest regards, Peter :) :) :) xxx
As a European who has only started following Supercars from around the Gen2 era this was a really brilliant overview over the history of the series. Also: Larko is awesome!
Such a cool and funny guy! We love you Larko! You remain one of the reasons I stuck with supercar racing back in 2008. Such great technical explanations through the years! Thanks mate
Im American, watched this series since 2000. Although Aussie cars are out, which sucks, since i loved the Chevy SS, G8, and new GTOs here in America, i will still appreciate the racing from these drivers. Hell, id watch these drivers race 500-600hp turbo 4 cyl cars!
Love his segments, Truly a legend in his own right, Back in the day when him and others racing was for me the best time in Aussie motorsport, I was born in 92 and imo just prefer the racing in that era, if i was born in 82 i couldve enjoyed in first hand, Technology meant i didnt miss out on some titanic battles, Epic bathurst drives and the tracks aswell back then some have sadly gone
Great segment Larko . I loved the group C and group A days myself . I wonder if I'm the only one wondering how this platform will fit cars that are not GM or Ford . I mean it would be great to see 3 or more brands in the field
Plenty of manufacturers make front-engined RWD V8 coupes still; Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Aston-Martin, etc. If just one of them could be tempted in …..
larko can you please help answer this question? I noticed the new GEN FORD that was tested at the track in Bathurst, was in fact MACH 1, I know this because i have one in JET fighter grey. Everybody is calling the new Gen 3 supercar a Mustang GT Gen 3, when in fact the one that went around the track you promoted was a MACH 1 ( very cool BTW!) You cant buy anymore MACH1’s because they were sold to Australia in limited numbers. So my question is, will it be a MACH1 Gen3 for super cars or the GT’s GEN 3. I am stoked if either just wondering why the reporters have it so wrong., The dead set, give away is the grille and the emblem on the dash!
Can you go a bit more back to the future and bring back a H pattern gear box, you’re reducing the drag to make the drivers work harder, this will add to it. A few missed gears should stop the procession you have now too.
All sounds good to me, I lost interest in this series for a few years with mustang having zero road car panels and a “commodore” built in Europe, but the new rules and cars is very promising
I guess I'll be called a puritan but... to me, the simple fact that we've gone back to using Seppo cars completely defies it being a truly Aussie series. Yes, I know our domestic production has ceased and we need to evolve but.. let's face it, the international era provided the best racing... if we are going to evolve to show a truly competitive series, why are we focusing on just American muscle when there are so many options available just like our national vehicle sales? The coming generation of racing looks awfully myopic to me.
Pretty disappointing they have no European cars or 6, 8 or 10 cylinders with turbos. Some lightly modified cars these days would be quicker around the track.
Improved production still exists, if you want to watch different cars fight. In a top level series parity is first priority, which evolved many series to utilize similar chassis. If they don't do this, they will turn into GT3 and use BOP. You decide which is better of the two.
Yes! So Carroll Shelby hit it right with the Viper! Saw a straight line monster yesterday running 2600hp all murdered out, the thing is beautiful! Give them to teams to wrap around Bathurst! Oonce
Larko is stroking his slider again 🤣 You gunna need some stamina to keep it up for 30 min though 🤣 All we need now is Mopar to get their act together !
Being a fan from Canada, I was half expecting (with the demise of Holden) to maybe see GM switch to Cadillac. Now, I don’t know if GM sells the Caddy’s there so it may have been a non starter. On the other hand, I think this will be a change for the better. The Mustangs will look Mustang-y the Camaros will look right and it could even open the door to the Dodge Challenger (assuming they sell, or want to sell, them down there)
Hybrid Engine in Supercars Gen3 2023 -New 5.0L Twin-Turbocharger V8 Hybrid -Hybrid Battery are produced by Williams -Performance may be increased from 650bhp to 840bhp and the cars made be fast -Fuel Injection are retained with Zero Chemical blend Ethanol
Stormin Norman in the Monaro was the fastest GM car around 1970, Pete Geoghans Mustang because of Pete’s ( Ian) talent , Moffat & Norm Beechey were the big draw cards ( I always regarded Jane as the 2nd tier). No drivers standards observers, . They were great days , short races on the limit. Lots of paint sharing . Watching them go through Peters Corner on the 1st lap was always fun. Not looking through rose coloured glasses it just was.
As a UK fan who started watching in the skaifey era (Holden all the way lol) its ashame to see the commodore and falcon now finally go but this video does give context. I didnt realise so far back we had the camaro and mustang. Spose ill need to be a camaro fan then even though I hate american stuff lol. The v8 supercars are dead.. Long live.. The v8 supercars!
That was so much easier to watch, Put Larkin down as a Legend for commentary. Now to the cars- damn the Mustang, Camarillo look similar. If new manufacturers won’t to enter what engine do they use, can the use their own?
Tin top racing in SA fell apart when their was no relevance with what was available in showrooms, yes the drivers continued to have fun in their race cars, but the public withdrew from circuits, sponsors withdrew and eventually it all fell apart. Aussie Supercars is a wonderful series, but the future does look daunting. Ford will have a vested sales interest as they still relevant- but Camaro 🤔 Holden - probably better off with Toyota’s, and possibly Nissans
I have been hearing rumor's about GM killing the Camaro in 2023? What will they use when the car needs a re-fresh? If GM does do this what car will be a replacement, A Corvette?
Wish they threw in some r35, M6 or r8 cars. Even a lightly modified rs3 against the current style would be more entertaining. Atleast put some turbos on something!!!
The Improved Production Challenge is the only races I watch now. And Bathurst of course... A two vehicle manufactures race is boring. I love watching a Honda Civic over take a V8 car. Far more riveting and exciting to watch. Thanks Jordan Cox :) At 3:33 I call BS, it's a media promotional advert for Holden And Ford from now on. Driven by declining sales because Holden and Ford couldn't be bothered to make reliable cars any more...Group A was awesome, manufacturer vs multiple manufacturers from around the world. RIP excitement in racing...
When will you guys realise we want some actual production parts on our racing cars. These are just more kit cars and we can form no affinity with them.
As a kid you could buy a commodore or falcon as your first car and you would happily have one for the rest of your life. The new cars don't represent Australia at all. Australian v8 Supercars is dead, its American Supercars now.
