The oil on the armour is to keep it rust free for longer, this year i started with my first armour and it already rusting XD. Step one buy WD40 oil and oil your armour every month or more. Spray the wd40 on the armour and use an kitchen sponge with a rough side and rub al rust of the armour then clean it with a cloth then spray it again with wd40 and keep it greased becouse than it wil not rust that fast. Also us olive oil or bee's wax to grease the leather once a month. Also these steps als must be done after every larp event. But first after the event clean it from dirt and water. And then grease every thing. Store it in a dry place. Like i have al my armour on a shelf greased until i am going to use it on a event.
Hey thank you so much for the tips! I didn't even think about treating the leather! I also wasn't sure if I needed to keep it oiled if it was just in storage between events, but now I definitely will. Guess you can't really over do it!
There is such thing as armor made of women’s size body shapes. Medieval collectibles has armor that is made for women. Honestly awesome kit. And the mantle definitely fits it just has to be tightened up and broken in a bit. You need arming points which are specific ties to attach the amor to an arming jacket and shoulder armor is usually with arming points you will usually have a full gambson underneath the plate armor. And the armor you got doesn’t need arming points and it looks awesome. Have fun at the larp games you go to.
One suggestion that I would give would be to rub the armor with a towel after taking it off so that you can clean the fingerprints. Over time, the armor will start to lose a bit of its shine, but that’s normal (it even happened to my set of steel Elias armor)
You are very funny, and that armour looks great!! I too am buying a armor and weapon, the bestion with armour is: it's has to be in steel or resin? I still don't know.
Your armour is coming together nicely, the next piece to look at is probably a demi curass. I think that the mantle is about the right size as it is large enough to vent heat during the summer and to fit a hood or a scarf under the mantle.. I can't believe that I missed this video, but notifications are turned back on.
I'm heavily considering a demi cuirass! I think that'd really start to complete the look. I was also considering chainmail instead buut I was told that it is much heavier so I may just stick to plate for a while. Also, I didn't even think about accounting for layering. I'm sure it'll be perfect once I have a full kit under and maybe a hood, like you said. And thank you for turning on notifications, I appreciate it! I didn't realize you had a channel too! I just subbed back to ya
I think overal an chainmail would fit perfect with this look if you want to armour up even more but chainmail is verry heavy. I have worn chainmail once as an npc at my larp and then realised that i was not strong enough to wear this a whole day ... So now im training to gain muscels and trieng to lose weight to be abble to finally wear chainmail. My current kit is an epic armoury 3Xl torso front and back plate. Mytholon bracers, greaves, schoulders and neck plate. A corinthian helmet. And Re-anacment gothic plate knight gloves. But i still want chainmail, hip plates, full leg guards and full arm plate. But thats somwhere in the future. Any way if you want chainmal i recomand trieng someone else chainmal first so you can feel if its somthing you want. And in my opinion plate is weirdly way more light. Atleast my epic armoury torso is pritty light. And its just a matter of finding your perfect looking armour piece. Also both are pritty good becouse evantualy you can dubble up and use both if you prever that. Thats probley what im going to if im fit enough to dubble up. And the leightest chainmail is aliminium chainmail altho aliminium chainmal schould always be riveted not buted. Andi recomand any way to save up for riveted chainmail becouse riveted will not easely brake while buted oftenly needs repair becouse the ring are not actualy closed.
you are wonderful, i would love to talk about armor and crafting with you alot ! omg. i just found out the website you use to buy your armor.. wow wow wow.. i have two samourai armor, but now i want a knight armor so bad XD
I can never find any pictures or videos of that style of tasset online, thanks for including them. Did you have to buy two or just one, because some listings for tassets say they're sold in sets of one, and some dont say anything at all.
Of course! I hate that it is so difficult to find reference pictures for armor and you dont know what you get until it arrives. This set was sold separately and I had to buy 2 to make a pair!
I like the look as is but if you're roleplaying as a knight, a knight would probably have one, as it's more important than everything else you've got. So maybe you're a poor knight, or you inherited the armor from someone who died from a wound that destroyed the breastplate. Another option would be just to wear a tabard over everything and just pretend it's underneath. Then again as is you've got a wealthy rogue look about you, so maybe you could play off that.
I'm no expert in the field of armor personally, so can't say too much in regards to it. That being said; The armor looks pretty good! Maybe some little shaping here and there and it'll look even better. If you don't want to go with a solid breastplate and want to rock more the look you currently have in this video you can use a brigandine, or fashion something up to look like it. Would keep the appeal/look you got going at the moment.
I’m still quite new to wearing armor, so I don’t have all the answers just yet- but I will say mine stays put a lot better when I have more padding underneath. The padded collar in the video keeps mine from moving too much. Even a good gambeson under it would be a good addition, too. Do you wear padding underneath already? Or maybe try bending it a bit to sit on your body a little better? I wish I could offer more advice, but I hope this helped!
Also a posibility mabey to look in to gambeson with sleeves that you can take of. Especialy one were you can change out to no sleeves to short sleeves and long sleeves. I have a male gambeson from mytholon (altho its rather thick fabric so a sterdy gambeson (and i dont know much other brands of gambeson except epic armoury where the fabric is les thick) but this gambeson can have the sleeves removed. And also the hip padding i bought it in a bundle in a sale. But you can also buy the short sleeves seperate (i dont know if this is still the case) Mabey there is a female version of it?
How well do the tassets stay in place? I've been looking at those little pieces for a bit but worried about how well they'll stay on place. Don't wanna worry about readjusting them mod fight, you know? Otherwise, the whole outfit is amazing!
Thank you! I’ve only worn them for pictures at this point, in which I didn’t have to readjust them at all. It’ll be a while before I can take them to a game and see how it goes in battle, but I don’t thiiink it’ll be too much of an issue. They have a bit of weight to them so they don’t just flap in the wind. Plus, if you do have issues with them moving around, you could put them on a wider belt so that it’s a more snug fit for them. I believe that would keep them completely put, but I’ll have to keep ya posted!
