Fun fact: Jordan says everything he learned about trash talking he learned from Larry. Another fun fact: Jordan strictly banned his team from talking to Larry.
He has so many trash talk stories. My fav is when he was a rookie. A legendary Pistol Pete Maravich who played his last year with the Celts. Told him .. Larry You can't take them kinda shots.. they're double teaming you.. Larry replied to the legend Pistol.. IF you were any damn good.. they wouldn't be double teaming me.
Love to hear the black players wear out the "HE AIN'T FAST, CAN'T JUMP ETC ...... " and then have him Jumpshot, steal, pass incredibly or shoot from outside and clutch ...... to prove it all nonsense .... He COULD TELL YOU WHAT HE WOULD DO ... and you can not stop him - THAT IS TALENT & DETERMINATION ..... hard work, relentless smart reads to out think them !!! Love it.
1980 ‘s NBA had the Greatest crop of talent in NBA history ! … BIRD , JORDAN ,MAGIC , ISIAH KAREEM , DR J , DREXLER , ISIAH , XAVIOR , PAYTON , KAREEM , MOSES , MILLER , DOMINIQUE , WORTHY , HAKEEM , BARKLEY , KING , LAIMBEER , KARL MALONE , STOCKTON , just to name a few …. and BIRD beat them all !!!!
Jordan never beat him in the playoffs. My favorite bird story is when after 3 quarters he was an assist away from a quadruple double and sat the whole fourth. We the coach asked him if he wanted to go in and pick it up bird being bird told him no I've done enough damage . Only larry
Not just trash talking - telling them where he was gonna get the ball and shoot from - even at the biggest moments of a game. Bird is just different than any other player ever.
Hey hey Fellas. Y''all missed Byron Scott at the very beginning of the Trash talking video. Oh, and here is Larry's actual Ultimate Mixed Tape. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hcXv0JtzNQA.htmlsi=1gJOa7MpaQEr9u0L It makes me feel good that all you young cats are getting more familiar with the older legendary players like my main man and MY GOAT, #33; Larry Joe Bird. I grew up watching him play from some of his college ball then a'course his rookie season right until the (too soon) end, sobbing all the way through his retirement ceremony they aired on TV, for so many of us who didn't live anywhere near Boston. Afterwards, I WEPT for months after, once he was officially gone from the game. Even though I'd always loved the sport I had never really played and despite never growing taller than 5'3 1/2" myself, I had an NBA regulation height basket, (the style with the large base you filled with sand or water for stability) in my folks driveway and practiced Larry's shot & form for all his moves for hours at a time and guess what? The boys in our neighborhood began to fear me not only for baseball and football but BBall too! And as a proud tomboy, I relished it. I think Larry would've been proud of me, so great was the inspiration of his game. *Sigh* .. he helped me slide from a mere interest to a real love of the game. (Sorry, didn't mean to prattle on.) So, pay attention. Handsome guy with the dreads, have you been nodding off (or just looking down long enough to light up? 🤭🤭🤭) Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy it too and if it's okay, I can fetch some more awesome LB videos for both your reactions. I appreciate what you and other younger ppl are beginning to realize, that the contributors from years past who are NOT "plumbers" but were GREAT in their own era; which is how the respect should flow .. right? Some LEGENDS of the game have become either forgotten or ignored, like Stockton for one, and even Jerry frikkin' West (ya know, our NBA logo man?) .. and my Larry! I'd hate to think Larry's not more popular with the younger kids now simply bcoz he was a great white player. 🥺😢😠🤬 So, I appreciate even more that y'all have been showing him some love. ❤ Until next time, rock on and take care. Your newest sub, Lady Aszneth (Az neth) 🙂🩷 ( For future reference sake, 1 smootch on the cheek for each of you; when y'all see this: 💋 💋 😊 )
I still can't understand why they say he wasn't athletic.. I've been watching videos for about 3 weeks now.. I'm not a Basketball fan..I'm Football/Baseball. But I remember back in the day my Daddy loving some Dr. J and hating Larry Bird.. so I started watching videos.. of Larry.. wtf.. the man knew his stuff.. Legend. When I hear Lebron saying he's the worlds best... maybe now.. but he never played against the players back in the day.. I have more respect for Steph Curry than Lebron. Maybe I'm wrong.. but my opinion. Put both of them against Larry in his prime.. go to bed
There is an entire video of Bird' s complaining about white boys guarding him. John Sally called h8m the blackest white man he ever met. Bird once said he might be black on the inside and white on the outside. The video has iconic phrase in the title. Subbed.
