Great all-around game by 33-year-old Larry Bird against Hakeem Olajuwon, Otis Thorpe and Houston Rockets. Bird scored 38 points (15/30 FG), alongside 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals. Celtics won the game 107:94. www.basketball-...
I didnt get to watch Bird when he was playing, but i dont enjoy watching anyones else highlights in youtube, more than Larry Birds. Yeah, that includes flashier guys like Jordan, Lebron, etc. Larry Birds style of play has become my favorite of all time, right up there with Jordans. They are my favorite 2 ever.
I went to this game back in high school. It was played on 2-13-90. It was at the Rockets old arena, The Summit. Great memories. First Celtics game I ever attended. Got to see DJ play in his last season. Me and my brothers are life long Celtics fans down here in Rockets country.
Larry made it look soooo easy, if you know something about basketball and have played, it's simply ridiculous when you think about it, even at 33, with a bad back and after surgery to both achilles tendons... The vast majority of players can't reach that level in their prime.
5:26 “Bird's free throw streak ends. HOUSTON -- Larry Bird's attempt to break Calvin Murphy's NBA-record 78 consecutive free throws ended Tuesday night when he missed his fourth attempt in the game against the Houston Rockets, ending his streak at 71 straight during 18 games.” Associated Press...Feb 13, 1990
Jason Lyte-Armstrong pretty sick? Lmao he’s on Mount Rushmore of the nba dumbass along with magic and Jordan... “pretty sick” is a huge under estimation and honestly an insult lol
Fiat Voluntas Tua AND Bird playing his entire NBA career never having the same feel for the basketball again from breaking his hand in that softball game... + Reggie Lewis.... they would have been the greatest team by far ever assembled
Gervin, too, made it look easy. Not the complete player like Bird or Jordan. But an offensive machine who could anyway possible from anywhere on the floor.
Perhaps he could have been. I for one, am tired of hearing about Bias, never having so much as played a game in the NBA. Reggie was a solid, still up and coming star.
Bird is one of my faves and my top 5 of all time, but of course he'd have a game like that against Buck the Blade Johnson who weighed about a buck! They didn't call him the blade for nothing. Another bad draft pick by the Rockets! Hakeem was only 10 of 24 field goals, but overall he had a pretty good game with 22 pts, 17 rbs, 1 ast, 4 blocks, and 2 steals. Don't know why everyone keeps saying Bird schooled Hakeem....yeah of course working with 5 hall of famers and 6 all stars he won the finals, what did Hakeem have? An underachiever and a bunch of washed up druggies.
That's true. Still not LeBron's fault there are no centers around today. And there really aren't. Howard is good, not great. Many questions about him. Only reason he is in demand is cause the coffins are so bare. Noah? Good, too, can't stay healthy. Anyone else? I don't know of any. Many teams today use a PF at center spot.
Mick A there’s nobody left for Lebron really besides a rising star named giannis that’s came outta no where. That’s why lebrons legacy will always be flawed and degraded he dominated in the weakest era after Kobe retired
LeBron is a joke. He traded himself by making deals with other people, and most importantly there are no great centers in the league anymore. Dwight Howard is a joke, and with centers like Robinson, Ewing, Kareem, Hakeem, Mutombo, Mourning etc. He would be eating the ball and not being to just jump or push everyone around, and Bird faced all of them.
Lebron is terrific. But yeah, his act is getting olllddd. If he goes 2 seasons in a row without a title, he seems to be selling himself to the most opportunistic bidder. Who can help him win, of course.
