im 62.... I watched most of the games...my whole life...I'm from Redondo Beach CA and I grew up in Indiana.... I absolutely love magic Johnson and the Showtime Lakers....but when ever.... Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics played....I just could not root against them. Bird and Boston just had so much heart....and soul....they were just too much. Especially when Larry Bird came back in the game with the broken cheek Bone incident.....well.....that did it for me.....pull it up and watch it for yourself..... there's a reason why Majic....and everyone loved Larry Bird.......they called it Celtic Pride.'....... I called it...Heart and Soul......

So few people understand this. Larry wasn't being mean or nasty. He was being real. And only Magic could understand it on the level that Bird meant it. Thank you Larry and Magic for making me care about basketball, even though I am way under 5' 10".

Bird suffered a lot of pain when he lost the ncaa title to magic in college, so it was sweet revenge for larry winning his 1st meeting against magic in the NBA championship, But make no mistake about it larry still feels the sting of losing the ncaa title, that's why in the documentary he stated that he hoped magic was hurting real bad during the lost to Boston in the 84 nba finals.
