The meta is the biggest problem currently because it's one of the "cheaper" decks that is a complete powerhouse so more players can have it. Perhaps diversity is around the corner with the ban list.

Man, that convention was fun. I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh in years (except Duel Links) and so much has changed...but I finally bought newer Toon cards I wanted for over the past decade and the non-legal God cards 😅 I still love the artwork on these cards and kept most of my deck I've had since high school. I also didn't think I'd ever have my Pegasus Funko Pop signed until this convention was announced!

Somewhat. Lately there's been a lot of complaints that the artwork is becoming homogenized and bland. Some cards have really nice pieces, but it's generally tied to older cards or "special" cards now. A LOT of cards in any given "base" product/set have really homogenized generic art at this point. It makes sense though when you consider that WoTC are pumping out new sets literally every month at this point in an effort to part people from their money faster.

The story is also more clearly laid out than Yugioh often. It's a main selling point that MTG uses simple block storylines and then has big ticket events like War of the Spark or Phyrexia's return. Whereas Yugioh....like until Master Duel does a Solomode most of us can only speculate, especially on newer cards.

@@daviddent5662 Massively disagree with this. I think the story is an absurd weakness in Magic. Yugioh literally has a manga/show hand-holding everyone through the story. Magic's story is so laughably bad that they've literally retold 2 of the stories twice now. Nicol Bolas's Planeswalker war is just Ravidel almost to a T & New New Phyrexia is just Phyrexia's war all over again. The stories are SO BAD that any time anyone mentions the books they just point to Brother's War from 20+ years ago as a "must read" and then when asked for more everyone just kinda' shrugs. Lol.

It's a lot of fun, though it can be very overwhelming at first. Thankfully, there's plenty of good beginner decks out there that don't cost much. I'd look into Fur Hire, for example.

A little something from someone in similar shoes, Larry. I mostly play Cardfight Vanguard for the past 10+ years. Yes, I still play some Yu-Gi-Oh!. There's never a day where I feel like I'm putting more money into one than the other. Why? Because I only kept what I want to run in Yu-Gi-Oh!. And the only support I look for are for those decks and that's it. If you feel like you are putting more into MTG than Yu-Gi-Oh!. It is because you are getting more passionate about MTG than Yu-Gi-Oh!. Sometimes, it just be like that. I know because I have played Yu-Gi-Oh! longer than Cardfight Vanguard! and I just pretty much fell out of Yu-Gi-Oh!.

The price is based on how much it will sell rather than what you will buy it for, right? Because when I go online/locals, the price of a common card would be around $0.35-0.5. While buying it, the price would be around $1-2.5

This isn't expressed enough even though it's a collab video. I give to Larry and his wonderful wife. I know even with the return from doing it for videos or what not. Devoting any sum of money to a passion can be tricky in a relationship. Sometimes you don't have to find that person that's shares your hobby. Just passionate about seeing you happy enjoying it.
