you get much wondering about that. some even say 'the time of the tank is finished'. but if you stop and think the tank is mainly a big gun and it's very moveable and it's pretty well protected. well that's plainly as asset and their day is not done. never will be. you'll always want big guns and you'll always prefer them rapidly moveable and well protected. the disadvantage is when you try to make them something else: troop carriers perhaps delivering your troops to the front line, make them the 'assault troops' by bringing them right up to the front line where RPG's and drones are thick, make them 'mortars', i.e. very short range artillery. Today more than ever you need to approach the front very swiftly and with minimum concentrations of men and material that can be targeted and such tactics are succeeding everywhere. difficulty then becomes keeping those troops there, supplying them, really 'owning' that land so's you can move freely on it. you try to do that by pushing the enemy further back... pushing back out of rpg range, out of fpv range and so on... and you start moving your armoured quick moving guns up so's they can help with that, putting down accurate and powerful fire cheaply ( tank rounds cheaper than missiles etc ) and scooting away quickly and hiding from long range fpv threat and such. it is tactics. how you use stuff. not the stuff you have.
