The reason Elder's father became the man he did without a father was that he had no safety net. At that time a 13 year old black kid on the street had two choices, be a man or be a victim. A victim in those days didn't get his feelings hurt, he got injured or dead. I have so much respect for the elder Elder (pun intended).
@judithmargret5972
@judithmargret5972 3 года назад
It was the same for white females too. As a now 72 year old Australian white woman being homeless in the 60s gave no benefits. Just for being homeless the teen was charged and for having no money another charge. No help, no shoulder to cry on, being taken advantage of on the streets, we had to be tough, and we were.

Was raised by a single dad in East Africa (mom passed away young) ..his family ate meals on banana leaves because plates and cutlery were only brought out for Christmas and Easter.. he got a job as a steward with an airline, saved up enough money to train as a pilot in America and retired as a captain. Larry Elder has seen America through the eyes of the poor, what he's done in life is something all can have with hard work and never give up. He's been affiliated with both political parties, California needs Larry Elder! California is a beautiful state with a lot of great people that need him. I've followed Larry for a many of years and I would love to see him and Ben Carson running for president and vice president. Keep up the good work Ben you've done a lot in such a short time and one day maybe you can run for president this world is in trouble like we haven't seen in quite awhile and we need help.

I'm so sorry you had such a rough time with and so much animosity toward your father for so long. But I am SO VERY glad you found peace and reconciliation. You and your father are impressive and amazing people. To do what your father did with his life coming from what he was dealt is wonderfully inspirational. By today's standards he should be a criminal and playing the victim. So many people, of so many backgrounds, feel that they are owed for their situation. They sit and whine and make poor choices instead of taking control of their lives. Thank you and your father, Larry!
