I first saw Larry at the Park West in Chicago. The Kinsey Report and Albert Collins were the subsequent acts. What a show! Then I was lucky enough to get all of his albums. This guy can play and sing and he's a great guy, Love Larry!
He is great:-) but I don't think he is underestimated. Not being in the limelight of any big music corporation is a better way of life and he's doing wonderful and he's happy.

LARRY McCRAY GONE FOR GOOD - Lyrics *I believe these are correct, but if you hear it differently feel free to tell :) Things been looking bad lately Only thing we do together is fussing and fight Ten long years I thought you was my woman But the truth has come to alive Oh I wish we could get back together The way that it used to be, yeah We had our own little world baby Me loving you, and you loving me, yeah But so much time has passed, So many things have changed And we just kept drifting further I think that the time has come to stop fooling myself 'Cause you've already found another, for sure Can't take it no more (When I leave this time you know I'm gone for good) I said I'm gone for good (When I leave this time you know I'm gone for good) Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone I'm packing my bags, turning you loose I'm doing the best that I could When I leave this time, you know I'm gone for good Said i'm gone for good Never did I mean to hurt you baby It was something I just could not control All my friends, I thought was laughing with me, But they was laughing at me 'Cause I'm out here in the cold You know you told me you wanted me gone Just like million, million times before I'm gonna take you at your word, And I'm gonna walk right on out the door So long, I don't want it no more (When I leave this time you know I'm gone for good) Gone, gone, gone, gone (When I leave this time you know I'm gone for good) I said I'm gone for good (I'm packing my bags, I'm turning you loose) I did the best that I could When I leave this time, you know I'm gone for good I'ts gonna be hard getting over you baby You know that you done me wrong Never was in my intentions to mess up our happy home But I give it just one more chance Will you show me you can make it right Just pick up the phone, look over your shoulder I'll be there tomorrow night (When I leave this time you know I'm gone for good) I said I'm gone for good (When I leave this time you know I'm gone for good) Gone, gone, gone, gone I'm packing my bags, I'm turning you loose I did the best that I could When I leave this time, you know I'm gone for good Gone, gone, gone, gone, Said i'm gone for good (When I leave, you know I'm gone for good) How could you do it to me baby How could you do it to me baby
Larry was a GM "factory rat," like me. They offered buyouts (3, at least) and he was hesitant about taking one. His coworkers rode his ASS, telling him, "get your ass out of here, take the money, and go make your dream come true." If they hadn't been so adamant about it, he very well may have stayed, and like myself, did the 30 and out thing. He's a real "bluesman," through and through...
