I went to visit my sister in Murcia in the south of Spain. Her boyfriend, a local Murcian, took us to some cool places! One of them was here - Las Minas de Mazarrón! At first we tried to stop in the Museo Antonio Paredes which is a museum about Mazarrón (the mines, motorcycles, and more), however currently due to corona you needed to make an appointment to enter. The man working told us the mines are dangerous (as they are an abandoned), but you can visit as they are open to the public.
The first thing you notice when arriving at the mines are all the colors! The ground is red, yellow, purple, it even has greenish hues in certain areas. This is due to all the minerals from the mines. It looks like you're on a different planet!
We spent a couple hours walking around looking at tall the abandoned buildings, deep open wells, and dark caves. We weren't even able to see everything!
I definitely recommend checking out Las Minas de Mazarrón if you find yourself in the region of Murcia, Spain.
