Fun fact (for historically minded folks): Air Conditionining began shaping into its modern form in 1902, and was largely responsible for the population boom in the “sunbelt” region of the US. However, the concept of AC began in the form of evaporative cooling as far back as Ancient Egypt, while mechanical AC began in earnest in the 18th century, with Benjamin Franklin and another scientist coming to the conclusion that as the tech progressed, it would not be impossible for someone to freeze to death in the summer.
You might be all wrong about the self-driving car: What if it actually WAS a self-driving car and "John" was just some random dude tagging along with you?
Well, just prior to that they were testing Nukes just up the road, so I imagine the extreme desert heat was probably preferable to what the neighbours had going on.
Graham, your Glogs are always the best, so masterfully edited with great music to go with your great commentary/comedy. please don't stop making me happy.
Coming back for a rewatch. Since watching this vlog the first time, I've had the chance to visit Vegas. It's fun to see some places I visited now with the context of memories.
gosh i do love your vegas trips, always weird to see one of the most popular cities in my country that i havent been to yet through your eyes (though i'll be honest, i agree with everrry thought you have about it). hope their game gets lots of attention! they really spoiled you for the most part on this trip :P also it looks like ben had a blast too! keep having fun adventures!
This was super fun! I found the weather complaints to make for amusing content, though I can totally sympathize with them. Thanks for making this giant, wonderful heaping of GVlog!
"Canadians Complain About the Heat." I was in Vegas for the GP, and as a Minnesotan, I wish to be part of the sister-segment "Minnesotans Moan about Not-Winter."
I can't cope with the 27°c in Oxfordshire, England right now without my beloved air con. I'd want to die if I was outdoors in Vegas! I can't wait till I'm able to move back to Scotland ☺
Id love a walking tour of the Back of House area of Vegas. Just miles of infustucture that makes these huge casinos possible. The layouts and logic attached to vital function that is never seen by normal people. Paradise is this bazaire organic megastructure.
Graham: "I don't think I've ever spent half an hour in VR." Me: "What, only half an hour?" (I used to work at a much less upscale VR arcade than VOID from like early-2017 to mid 2018, and after-hours would regularly spend an hour or four playing stuff.)
Your vlog kind of made me miss Vegas, which is surprising, given the massive awkwardness of my last trip. I think I'll just live vicariously through your Vegas vlogs, though. If you like mini golf, and you ever make it to Santa Cruz, California, they have a pirate-themed mini golf course at the Beach Boardwalk. It has two levels, some silly mechanical pirate figures, a cannon, and a volcano.
I stayed at the Rio for a supernatural convention, also as super excited because thats where the world series of poker was being filmed, but ugh that place was no bueno. Mold and old furniture and holes in the damn walls. And much expensive eateries. You guys seemed to enjoy it a bit more than I, at least. And btw 1000% commiserate on the weather. We are currently experiencing the most humid summer in experience here in NY, and I cry for colder days.
Assuming you don't have any expectations of consistency or quality, I enjoy my Aura Swap Bogles deck (Arcanum Wings to cheat Eldrazi Conscription out), and was tremendously amused by a deck that used Living Lore/Spellweaver Helix to get free Cruel Ultimatum/Enter the Infinite off of Raven's Crime and Faithless Looting.
I recently built a Liliana's Contract deck using Black and Red changelings and super cheap Demons. The deck also runs 4x Demonic Pact and 4x Harmless Offering, for ultimate jank.
That back area was such a disaster. Also great to see security really watching those cameras and not noticing you wondering the halls, just shows how absolute shit security really is in Vegas
If you like your pulled pork, I just had a pulled pork Eggs Benedict at the Fountain Diner in Langford. I know it sounds like a weird combination, but it works so well. They make their own pulled pork too.
Fair chance in the 50s you likely had less distance to walk from the car to the hotel/casino, just from scale of parking garages or lots need to be for the size of the buildings. Plus getting between locations is also made worse by there has been some intentional design to dissuade people from gambling at locations other than the hotel they stay at, unless two adjacent properties happen to have the same ownership for a decent amount of time.
