My procedure is in two days. Looked this up to see what I'm in for and hooo boy did it not help me feel less worried.

how'd it go?

@@nejtack1 I had to re-schedule my surgery, so I'm only 3 months into recovery atm. But, it went great! The whole procedure only took 10 minutes and I was comfortable enough to keep my eyes open after 3 or 4 days. The first 2 days were moderately uncomfortable and kinda boring, but at time of writing I have 20/20 vision and only rare instances of dryness (which is to be expected for 12 months post-surgery). If you are considering it, I highly recommend it as it's changed my life honestly. If you are in the UK, I'd advise you check if your local NHS Trust has a private clinic for it, as high-street options like Vision Express aren't as good.

@@jamesdixon5714 Great to hear! I'm Swedish but we have a good clinic near me which I've booked consulting from next month so I'm looking forward to that.

@@Part_121_Wannabe it's pretty good, the only change I've noticed is a little more glare from lights but not an uncomfortable amount. It was worse earlier on, however it has been getting steadily better since surgery.

Just had this procedure today, Wednesday, at 10AM in the UK at Optimax. I'll give an update on Monday, when I have the contact bandages removed. Currently, my eyes are burning immensely with an itching sensation. I cannot even fully open my eyes, and I am susceptible to light. Moreover, my short-sighted vision has completely worsened, and I cannot even read the basic writing on my smartphone, even the text on this video, I had to zoom in at 150%+ on my laptop screen to remotely even see a bit of text. I phoned the surgeon, and he said that it was all normal.Right now, I am in my room in total darkness while wearing sunglasses.

Did they man handle your eyeball as much as they do in this video? This was disturbing!
@XtoCee
@XtoCee 4 месяца назад
@@jedphillips182 I didn't feel it, so I don't even know. It happened very fast. They give you anaesthetic eye drops to numb your eyes so you don't feel anything. However, I could smell my eyes being lasered. It had a burning smell, like a hair straightener burning hair.

Out of interest how come you had this procedure done, and not LASIK?
@XtoCee
@XtoCee 3 месяца назад
@@Z9E4D Sorry for the late reply, but the surgeon recommended LASEK since I told them I wanted to get into combat sports. Physical contact and combat sports isn't suitable following LASIK procedure in contrast to LASEK.

I had this done, currently, six days ago (tuesday 26th). I’m no longer light sensitive but I do not have 20/20 vision, my vision is much better than it was without glasses but not fully healed; the doctors said it could take 7 to 14 days for my vision to return but also said it could take up to a month. The surgery was painless for me and actually interesting to experience, it was the after which has made the whole experience not worth it to me. I was not mentally prepared and did not actually mind wearing my glasses, so, becomming helpless to the point of being able to do nothing but stay in total darkness - which at times still felt too bright - was one of the worst experiences of my life mentally. As well as the pain and the lack of control I had of my eyes. If I could go back I would not get this done. Personally, if you really hate wearing glasses, spent most of your life in contacts and it’s something that bothers you, then look into it. If you aren’t too bothered about your glasses or lenses I would say it was not worth it and I would not get it done.

No, the cells that were pushed to the side are not a "flap" as in LASIK. If you watch the LASIK procedures, there's a thick flap they fold away. This one is just the outermost layer of cells. Similar to PRK, but in PRK they just completely remove this outer layer, and normally put a contact lens in place as a "bandage" to protect the cornea.
