Fun fact: the camera's sensor can pick up 405nm quite well, unless it has a color filter hardwired on its actual pixels which is common for some digital sensor technology. Digital camera sensors are sensitive to well below and well above 405nm. The reason it seems way bluer in the video than it looks in real life is because our monitors' pixel colors are made of sub-pixels of 3 discrete colors that cannot express a near UV color. The best they can do is turn on the blue sub-pixel and spice it up with the other two colors, thus creating a purple-ish/magenta-ish color that approximates such color frequency that is so high above the blue.

i got super lucky with my 405nm Laser301 from dino direct. It lights white matches in under 2 seconds when focused & you can feel it on bare skin even when focused to infinity. I even took the tail switch off & threw on one with a regular clicky switch from my Eghemus host. Now instead of using a key, the laser only works when the tail switch is pushed in :)

I thought the Star Adapter would be great, but the human eye response at 405nm is too weak. However, with red, green, or blue, the Start Adapter looks so much better.

I had a 405nm 303 violet laser - it unfortunately burnt out pretty quickly. My previous cheaply bought 405nm lasers have all burnt out prematurely i have found - even a 5mw pointer. My 303 green and 301 red that i got at around the same time are still up to fully operational capacity! It's been atleast a couple years since getting them. I did recently rig up my first custom laser setup with a 405nm 150mw diode however(hopefully that doesn't die too) - it burns pretty well! It burns a bit better than my 150mw 301 red laser but obviously does not beat my cheap(ish) 1W+ 450nm blue lasers.

When I was about 6, I had a violet laser, it was able to engrave wood, it was probably something like 500mW. Don't know exactly what happened but it stopped working after a few days

I ordered my 405nm laser pointer from gearbest, it came in under 2 weeks (I live in Europe) and it lights red matches almost instantly. The warning label is purple not blue like in this video and there's no model number on it(they said it's a laser 301). The beam is almost invisible but it burns almost everything, including white colored objects. My green 301 couldn't light matches and it only burned black colored stuff.

Why are there lasers that show 532 nm, but have a 1 mW power? I can't find a laser like his that is a green laser. Ebay doesn't have 55 mW lasers, only 1 mW ones.

2 weeks from China? he'll it took over a month and some major cage shaking to get mine from Florida to Idaho from black hawk. it came with no carrying pouch and the focus piece is hollow....no focusing lens. was 56.00 and 10.00 more for the charger! wish I had of got mine from China!!

Jerrson Quineri typically blue laser have biggest diameter, and I really think that blue would be best for burning, it is easy to get a high power for cheap

Only fake ultra fires are 900mah. I don't use them, but real ones are okay. Great Scott does arduino projects, I wouldn't take his word as law, he's good though. But real ultrafires will serve you well!

the laser was not really focused. screw the focus all the way out and go really close to the match, it will ignite without a black sharpie. Just got my 405nm 303 today and it worked.

Most of them are DANGEROUS 1 watt Blue lasers that will Instantly ignite a lot of things. Please buy high quality laser goggles.
