Lasers are great and will allow gun owners to add some art to their pieces at low cost. Traditional engravers don’t need to worry about losing business. This will drive their prices up because hand engraving will just become that more exclusive.
In fact, a better way is to laser engrave the shallow pattern outline on the surface. These traces and contours are then hand-carved to create a more three-dimensional piece
@@willjiao9603 that my friend is a very logical idea. Is there a chance the laser can harden the metal where it’s burned? Heat affects the tempering of the steel or stainless steel. I prefer to use carbide gravers but even they wear when they hit a hardened area of metal.
Naaa, what you used to have will be gone by rookies who have machines. Lots of garbage work, but everybody will be advertising as an engraver. Learned this from being a sign artist. After vinyl cutting machines came along, sign companies opened up like restaurants and everybody was a sign painter.
@@slackdaddy1912 I’ve been in the firearms game since 1980. Everything you say is true but the truth doesn’t include everything my friend. Speak to those that collect fine arms or want to own something once that has a known artist’s initials engraved on it. Lasers will let the masses decorate the firearms they can afford and it’s fantastic. I may get a few of my old faithfuls decorated. For the serious sportsman and collector they don’t mind waiting even two years for a piece. Because they know they’re heirlooms. They feel secure looking through a jeweller’s loupe and finding the tiniest imperfection because they know it’s authentic. Slack D you should paint some signs and hold onto them. Do you see what these modern “Pickers” pay for old handmade/hand painted signs? $$$$
@14goldmedals Guessin your in your 60yrs, People nowadays rather have perfect straight line, symmetrical an an consistent depth laser etch on any of their firarms, guys that have multiple pistols an or competitive shoot are the ones who would want a certain hand stipple job to have that extra texture feel, even now I'll take a glock, sig exc nylon pistol frame and hand stipple clients pattern with a thin border as when done ill have the borderer made perfect per clients wants as no one can do a smooth border/deep border. Which is why I'm here as thinkin of gettin a 30w so I done have to pay 30$ just for border and also be able to laser etch eny style or custom pattern by just usin an image off Google, I just love creating art an people want them perfect pretty "show off" guns. I love it but I heard Biden say global warming will kill us in 4032 unless we drastically change(even tho it's India an CHINA) who makin these cry baby trans gay liberals complain 🧛 but I understand as they have mental problems and their own body is racist as thru gotta take a big shit so their husband can ram a bottle of bleach in their ass 😂
@@anthonycarranza8342 From China. There is a big toy for man in China . You'll see similar carving services at some community fairs. They usually engrave on mobile phone cases, pebbles, lighters .
