Today we’ll test our vl53l0x distance sensor. This low cost IR laser sensor can precisely and quickly measure distances. It’s connected using the I2C protocol, so this is a nice opportunity to play with that.
There is an embarrassingly long stretch of troubleshooting in the one, but subscribers have told me several times that those are valuable, so I left it all in.
The vl53l0x crate we'll be using:

This is so helpful. While I've been programming for a long time, I'm new to both rust and embedded. Watching you go through all the steps and solve the problems is filling in lots of gaps. I’d been trying and failing to get an infrared receiver working on a xiao esp32-c6 and failing, but I think I’ll follow this one and then probably have learned enough to fill in the remaining gaps. Please keep it up, and thanks again!
