I literally looked up what the clean and jerk was tonight and it eventually led me to Lasha and im so glad it did because im a big fan now. I have no background in weightlifting at all but I already love this guy and im already loving this sport. I’m sincerely excited to watch how far this guy goes and where this sport goes. Much love !
I was gladly about to pay for the ticket to watch the European championship stream. However, unfortunately it's not available in my region so I guess I'm just gonna wait until the highlight of the event later. P.S. Love the channel. Keep up the great work! :)
seb, you and the weightlifting house team are singlehandedly transforming weightlifting into a more accessible, exciting sport. WH got me into weightlifting and now i’m obsessed. thanks for all you do
The narration and edits are some of the reasons I bought the pay-per-view. The history behind the lifts and you are including are amazing and I'm certain that your knowledge of the sport will make the competition that much better. Keep up the good work! I'm eager to see how it comes out
Never thought i would see a 225kg or all red snatch in my life, insane, now to think that he will probably attempt a 500lbs snatch… wow, and probably a 600lbs cnj, we the spectators are extremely lucky
This is a masterpiece. We are living the history and glad to have you to pass us the way you do. I have no doubt that the coverage of the EC will be one of the greatest. Thank you for this.
Let's not forget that Lasha wasn't tested out of competition since he popped, so it is what it is - all you need to do to see these results is provide sb with no testing and good cycles to come off I time - you can have perfectly "natty" markers and still keep most of benefits of past roid usage. It's not a rocket science.
I would agree but he would have to be the best at something else. Being the best powerlifting means you are just that. His hip mobility would make him an ideal offensive lineman. Did he play any other sports? I know he was fun to watch lift.
@@keithlilly6242 No, you are merely ignorant of real accomplishment in this sport. You ever go as far as to call it "powerlifting", which is not even the same sport. Your ignorance speaks for itself. Lasha one of the greatest athletes to ever live in his own right, he does not need anything else to be great.
@@jglg7238 everybody use peds but some of them are winners somehow and some are losers like you who probably can't lift himself sitting here and typing bs...
Outstanding video, but the "quick lifts" are not exactly the best test of raw strength. I would argue that the strongest olympic weightlifter ever was Paul Anderson, who squatted 855 lbs for 6 reps and over 1,000 in training. He cleaned and pressed 220kg with no thigh contact, and snatched 170kg in the same way. His push press was 247.5 kg (545 lbs)... Hardly anyone else since has ever matched his feats, and perhaps no single person could do all of them together. In my opinion the strongest man in the modern era.
Thank you for such an amazing video and the manner of telling a story! Totally loved it! Lasha will get 501 KGs I believe and then will remain in 470s-480s for a few years until his retirement. He will stay undefeated
You have done more to promote the sport of weightlifting than anyone else since the legendary Bob Hoffman. Of course, he didn't have the benefit of social media, just Strength and Health, the flagship magazine of the York Barbell Club. That said, I think your commentary/coverage is the most erudite and informative that I've ever read or heard. Keep up the good work. I noticed in this video photos displayed of Issac Berger and Norb Schemansky. Both were lifting heroes of mine when I began competing in the 1960s. The press was my best lift, though I understood why it was dropped from the program.
Again young man have put into word the amazing ability at the record and eloquent story telling. When a listener feels physically touched by such stories is a gift that I feel puts you above all else, thank you and congratulations on the elite list of broadcasters to reflect on this sport. I am proud of you and admire you, much love Diana
You’re so bloody articulate it’s just great to listen to the passion but through an eloquent mouth. PPV well and truly ordered, and good luck. I hope you reap the reward and people sign up.
So looking forward to this, Seb and all the team at weightlifting house, and what a scoop to get this opportunity to watch the sport I took up at 16 and still try to do at almost 61. Your presentation, delivery, knowledge and passion is unparalleled in weightlifting history and I thank you so much for that. And your comeback into the lifting world is inspiring too. Not to mention that greatest weightlifters book which lives in my car and gets read often and the Pendlay book I hope to read too. I feel your role and future in the sport is limitless and essential to its survival and longevity. Congratulations.
What an amazing video, thanks for the footage and the context. More people should see this. I agree there was nowhere near enough recognition in the last competition in terms of what was seen and done. It's similar to non-lifters seeing someone snatch a weight that 99.9% of humans cannot imagine deadlifting and say "that's good".
Good luck Seb! One thing I always missed was knowledgeable commentary on these presentations so it will be good to see that addressed. In any other sports broadcast you are inundated with statistics. That keeps things interesting and gives perspective. You obviously have a love for the sport and a knowledge of and access to the athletes in a way that will make this great. One thing - with your influence, can you do anything about the cheap plastic chairs they give these poor lifters to sit on? 😆
I almost never leave comments on youtube videos, but this is one of the best written, best edited, and best delivered commentaries I have ever seen. Beautiful video. Thank you for bringing this story to peoples' attention!
Yes boys. Congratulations on getting the streaming rights accepted. Love all what you do for the sport. I have never really seen much weightlifting in my time, but watching your streams have really opened my eyes into everything these amazing athletes do. Your knowledge and insight really helps out. Thank you for everything you do. Keep up the brilliant work.
Good monologue, flawed conclusion. Can we really have the takeaway from being the best ever at two highly technical lifts be that you're the strongest person alive? For that matter, can you even really conclude that you're the strongest person in your sport?
Hi Seb ,Would U mind to Review Some Top Lift on SouthEast AsianGames ? There's some Good Number Lift like on Men's 73kg where RahmatErwinAbdullah Snatch 155kg and Attempted 2kg WorldRecord Clean&Jerk 200kg .Cleans it just Fall Short on Jerk . Also Rizky Juniansyah the 73kg JuniorWorldRecord Holder compete in 81kg Class as @76,45kg get Enermous Total for 73kg Class with 157kg Snatch ,Miss 160kg on Last Attempt + Clean&Jerk 197kg on His Second Attempt also for Total 354kg Total beat His Competition Personal Best and His JWR by Some Kg .He Opened C&J with 192kg ,And Miss 200kg on His Third Attempt for the Gold
Thank you Freind this is one of the best sport narration i’ve ever watched or listen to, it was inspiring, emotional, hope filled, represented and put together with perfection! I’m grateful for you and the way you have communicated love and passion you carry for this sport!
The price for the PPV is a STEAL! Definitely looking forward to watching live with commentary instead of spending the whole time waiting for recap videos ;)
I am more impressed personally with the lifter that lifts the greatest percentage of their body weight. A 400lb man lifting 400lbs is not as impressive to me as a 200lb man lifting 400lbs etc. Seems the facts prove the tiny men lift the greatest multiplier of their body weight. That is very impressive to get 3+x body weight...wow that is crazy strength.
This is great and props to Him his lifts are insane but I think it’s unfair to call him the strongest man in the world. Especially when there are other extreme strength sport likes strongman and powerlifting. He can’t do a 501kg deadlift just like how thor cant do a 260kg snatch. And neither of them can do a 795lb bench press like julias. But it’s safe to say he is the strongest ever of his sport.
Unfortunately Lasha's body has broken down slowly. He draged himself through injuries and even missed and European championship. He managed to win his third Olympic gold, but it was way harder than usual and his weights were lower than usual. He completed with injury, but I'm not sure ge can recover to his old self. The mythical 500 kilos loot too unlikely.
He sure is not the most efficient, what a shame that gut. FYI Scott Norton 360 pounds, seated strict press, 495 x 3 I DOUBT Talakhadze duplicate that if his life depended on it.
I’m more familiar with powerlifting and strongman. This was my first ever weightlifting video. Stunning filmography and storytelling to highlight phenomenal athleticism!
Anatoly Pisarenko of Russia at 270 lbs bodyweight clean and jerk of over 580lbs in the early 1980s and nearly put up over 600lbs he is the best ever period
Thank you a fabulous video. Lasha is truly a Colossus in a world full of Lilliputian celebrities and media nonentities. What a privilege to witness his supreme achievement.
Now, this is a proof that you got to be born genetically in order to snatch 225kg and of course a LOT of training. In the top 10 weightlifters in the world some of them can`t even clean@jerk 225kg. That is just ridiculous. the power this guy has in revolutionary.
He is the GOAT without a doubt, and it's far from over. Called the 500 total in 2015 after seeing him snatch 200 in the training hall in Houston. Never seen someone toy with 200 like that, almost power snatching it... and a such a young age ...
Thank you for opening up this world of weightlifting to us I enjoy your commentary and coverage. These athletes deserve recognition for their discipline 🙏🏽
Asanitze didn't dethrone Dimas. Injuries dethroned Dimas, he shouldn't even have been on the platform, with a numb right arm from two injections, surgeries in shoulders, knees, you name it. He just had to be part of the Olympic Games in his country, and it was because he was Pyrros Dimas, that he managed to achieve third place, in spite of all the above. So, let's not exaggerate.
Lasha the king. Its one thing to do sth that people say ' that would be amazing '... but on a whole different level to do sth that people say ' no way, thats impossible'
Pound for Pound strongest man still goes to pocket Hercules. Lasha is 400+ pounds, all credit to him but these lifts aren’t even in the same category as Naim. In my eyes the worlds strongest man is no one other than the great Naim Suleymanoglu.
Remember Evgeny Sypko ! Able to snatch 216 ,5 (220 in training) but inable to exceed 225 in Clean and Jerk (230 in training) 450 max virtual training total 430 in URSS games
I like Olympic lifting better than powerlifting bc it does require more athletic ability plus brut strength. Unfortunately it won’t ever be that popular. Worldwide it is more so than in America but you almost need a sport to be popular in America to be a prime time sport. Also I think what hurts sports like this and bodybuilding is you aren’t going head for head with another guy. You are trying to lift more but it’s the weights your going against. In football or rugby a guy can lineup across from you and demonstrate more will and beat you. Even if you are a better athlete. Being a good athlete requires so much mental strength. Just my opinion
Gotta disagree, manhood stones still exist and ive never seen anyone judge someones manhood via a barbell exercise. Atlas Stones and manhood stones are the test. anything else is trying to make weightlifting look more socially important than it is. Which what it is is basically nothing societally. Here in UK and in Scandinavia stone lifting is still a society recognized proof of strength.
