Just found this, fun video. Love those old IH's, that's a neat truck being the heavy GVWR 500 in the short wheelbase. Really a great setup for that hay trailer outside the fuel consumption, haha. It looks like the tachometer under the dash could be the factory unit... Pretty rare thing to see! If you're willing to try and grab a picture I would LOVE the see the lineset ticket on it (if its still there) to see if it lists the tach. The ticket would be taped to the back side of the glovebox. There are two little spring tabs on each side of the box when its open, press them in and the whole lid will flip out and the lineset should be right there! Thanks, hope to see more videos with the truck. The IDI at the end is always a treat.
Another OSHA compliant video! Improvising at its best. Great work. I've always loved the IH trucks. No nonsense work truck. If you want AC or a soft ride, buy a car!
Always! Lol. Yeah unfortunately that is part of what made them go under. Market demand was shifting from workhorse farm truck to comfortable daily driver.
Me neither lol. I’ve never flooded an engine with that much gasoline either. Definitely a learning moment. Even if you disconnect the coil, discharging gas all over the engine bay is a risky activity. Thanks for watching and feedback!
@@fabricobbletech you never know what could happen, he's definitely one of the top channels on RU-vid ha ha. But it would be a fun video to watch hands down.
Thanks a lot I appreciate the feedback. For sure I watch a number of those “rescue” style automotive channels. VGG, JunkYard Digs, No Nonsense knowhow to name a few. I’d love to do a revive and drive sometime. For now just doing what I can, with what I’ve got, as time allows.
Cool old truck, but that would have been considered a 1.5 ton truck instead of a 1 ton. The 500 was the "replacement" for the 1510 (it was the same truck, just got new numbers).
I'm definitely no expert on them. I'll admit, information was actually not easy to find. May have had better luck researching under 1510 instead of 500 since in wasn't a 500 for long before being discontinued. Thanks for info!
Not claiming this exact truck is the last unit off the line. The International 500 was the last 1-ton series they made. The truck was made for 1 more year after this specific truck if I recall correctly.
