I was there watching the game, couldn't ask for a better game to watch live, that 2nd half was amazing. Plus since I'm half portuguese half danish I was able to celebrate 5 goals in that game :D
Pele once said that danish football is the european equivallent to Brazil. In fact they aspire to play the dutch style of football since Olsen took charge. Offensive wings, short passing, entertaining football... Barcelona anyone?
Allan Simonsen (best european player in 1977 ahead of Keegan and Platini - Amazing player, and sadly forgotten in these times, despite his carreer). Michael Laudrup (Best foreign player the past 25 years (1974-1999) ). Peter Schmeichel (UEFA Champions League 10 Seasons Dream Team (1992 to 2002) + UEFA goalkeeper of the year: 1992, 1993, 1997 and 1998, and winner of the European Championship in 92. Figo was one of my favourites, sad that his countrymen have their heads up their asses.
Euro qualifying: 14-10-2014: Denmark 0 - 1 Portugal It must be said about the game of the video that the danes came back on the game because of stupid substitutions by Queiroz, the national manager of Portugal at the time, taking off key players and using secondary players. Denmark is a great team and cannot be underestimated never - this result is the proof of that.
Carlos Marxo The keeper was there for the entire game, and he was the one who fucked up on our second goal. The last one is just bad luck. So how exactly did the subs make you lose th game?
Part - 4 Days later, when Germany and Portugal met, the Germans and the Portuguese went for each other throats and the result was a wonderful 3-2. When Portugal played Spain and PORTUGAL CAME OUT OF HALF TIME as if they were more tired than before half time. This was in 2008... but EXACTELY THE SAME THING happened two weeks ago ... Portugal came out of half time 'more tired' than before half time and totaly unwilling play when up to half time Portugal was practically destroying Spain
Do you realize that Spain consists mainly of Madrid and Barca players? 2 of the best teams in the world combined and you have the Spanish national team. If a team like that shouldn't be able to pull a triple off, I don't know who should.
Well after the first goals its optimism. "Now go for the victory!" Other guys says: "just stay organized". Then the penalty. They agree its ok - foul was committed. Resignation. The 2-2: "Amazing morale!" Portugal seems to be groggy... 2-3: "ITS THERE! ITS DEFLECTED! Sensational! Marginals on our side now." Offensive play rewarded on last 2 goals - poor defending. "We want the final whistle - or another goal?". "Topresult". Talking about similar case vs Italy long time ago - final whistle.
Football is a question of many factors. Luck, player-material, cooperation, tactics, player setups, stimulation, performance and a ton more... not just luck/bad luck. Also teams got different strenghts. Portugese players are excellent dribblers and passers, but tend to be highly ineffective, while Denmark has a team of effective teamplayers that loves to play ultra-offensive (1970s dutch playstyle) which has proven to be quite effective against bigger football nations so far.
If Portugal hadn't scored that last minute-goal, we would propably have made it through to the quarter finals :/ But Portugal got their revenge, at last. Congrats to them.
I'm so exited for the upcoming match :D I'm not expecting anything but hoping for a 1-1, i could see Jakob Poulsen as the surprise for Portugal today :)
I am portuguese, and sometimes I have to say: Our national team sucks, Denmark is good, but look at taht, how is possible not to win, i got so nervous... -.-
Deco, Pepe and Liedson aren't actually portuguese, they're nationalized brazilians. Any team in the world could do well if they could simply nationalize a few players from the best footballing nation in history.
dude first off I was talking about the FIFA World Cup 2010 when Portugal got the group of death and how Denmark got first place in the qualifying group but choked in the group stage with Japan...then all the sudden you talk about something else what game are you possibly talking about then?
I am really looking forward to the game between Denmark and Sweden in Denmark later in this group! I really hope we (swedish) can play better then we did in Stockholm against Denmark last game. If we win that one, our chances to get to South Africa will be kinda good! Although I think Denmark wont have any problems keeping us from taking their 1st place. Portugals only chance now is to win the remaining games (which shouldn't be any problem) and just hope Denmark stop Sweden from taking 3 wins.
Portugal has twice as many people as Denmark first of all, giving an advantage when it comes to developing good football players. Moreover, Denmark has a much colder climate, making it impossible for 3-4 months a year to do proper training for children outside. So Denmark tends to be good at sports inside, such as handball, badminton and swimming(in pools), as we can play those all year round.
If you look at the goals Portugal scored one is a pretty weak shot that has just a bit of luck and the other is a penalty. Denmark scored only one goal by a header which should be our force. I hope we will use that tactic more tomorrow :) If you get as many chances as last time and we use a bit more of our headgame we will see a very entertaining game.
we danes do not say that we are the best team in the world, we or I just cant understand why its so difficult for so many people to give denmark some credit for this match... Denmark won, and it was not all luck.. like you say, its about scoring.. :)
Part - 3 "Portuguese players are told by the politicians not to score?" You're close but not entirely there yet... Continue that logical thought and you mignt just get closer. Hint: Euro 2008, the Germans were deliberately making mistakes to allow Spain to score... they did... ONE goal
In Europe the top THREE countries that more consistently show quality are: 1 - Germany 2 - Portugal 3 - Netherlands ALL THE OTHERS COME & GO & STAY AWAY FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. - The most feared in Europe are those three. I don't see Denmark there. Don't even try & compare Portugal with Denmark, my friend. Portugal is on a low at the moment with very young players. Meet them in Brazil in '14 & see. TRUE, PORTUGAL WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO WIN ANYTHING OF SIGNIFICANCE BUT THAT'S NOT THEIR FAULT
Denmark had a good start on the match too though. MAJOR chance after only a few seconds. And Portugal didnt dominate as much the 80 min as Denmark dominated the last 10. Thats almost pure powerplay. But Im looking forward until tomorrow. All we need is a draw but we have essential players injured and someone back from injuries whom we really dont want back : / - gg tomorrow :)
I think Portugal bult three statues to Peter Scmeikel in the middle of Lisbon: One of Schmeikel, another of Peter and another of Peter Schmiekel. Can't be fairer than that.
Do you forget that Portugal built three statues to Peter Schmeikel ? One of Peter in the main town square...another Schmeikel the Centre of Attention Rotunda of the Encarnation and finally another of Peter Scmeikel right at the end of the main avenue in Calcuta. Don't you have newspapers in Denmark ?!
Well that's your opinion if Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Germany and Spain are better in your eyes, but in my eyes I think Brazil are the ones that are going to win the WC, I never said Portugal were I just said they are one of the favorites. Portuguese people never complained about anything like that at least i never did because all those players are Portuguese and have Portuguese nationality. You need to understand one player dosent make the whole team. I have seen them here but its rare.
You also refused to play the ball back to us after Silberbauer got hurt, so you have nothing to complain about, and what does it matter if he got bombarded with shots if he knows how to save, unlike your keeper who couldn't save the only shot on target Denmark had almost the entire match.
I don't like that fact either skrilla. It seems weird to me that national teams can benefit from a dark and "evil" thing like colonization. The germans are "good" at it too - Klose, Podolski, Kuranyi etc.. Then again, that's just my opinion, and the european national teams are definetly more interesting (due to skilled players) to watch because of it.
well that's just it you are supposed to be good and beat us, thats why the commentator says our victory here is sensaionel as in very fucking unlikely. we KNOW that we arent that good at football but its really great to kick worldstar ass every once in a while....and about that play-off that was against Bosnia and Herzegovina with a 0-0 draw in the first leg....really impressive i must say
@oli2300 Pele was very good with the ball, now seeing football from outside the field he was not so great, the closest european match to brazilian style of play,is the portuguese, not the danish.
