Love how she goes from "This can't be happening!!!" to "Hmph, weakling" halfway in. Easily one of the best optional character paths in fighting games at least.
I was happy to see her in Capcom VS SNK 2, I still believe there will be a Last Blade 3 someday, I want to see a grown-up Kotetsu fight with her father's powers, Zantetsu's grandson as the new Zantetsu, Hibiki's idol warrior, and some other things hinted in LB2 endings
@chko714 Yes. You can turn the blood on on some emulators. If you're using Final Burn Alpha: Press F2 > Setting up the sof dip > Slot 1 The Last Blade 2 > Cruel Fight On
I don''t understand this game (I'm thinking of getting it). How do you "not kill" your enemies? I've seen a Sane Hibiki playthrough here on YT and it doesn't seem any different. She still ends the fights with the Iainuki (Quickdraw) move. Is there some sort of setting you have to choose for non-killer endings? I haven't found much explanation on the topic (mostly found technical arcade competition stuff).
I know this comment is a few months old but I'd still like to share my observations. If blood is off (by default for the English arcade version I believe) it is impossible to kill enemies at all. Versions including the modern port to Steam have the option to toggle blood on, though, and when that happens, you can "kill opponents" through several means. Characters with swords or sharp weapons such as Hibiki and Kaede should be able to "kill" their opponents with their Strong (C button) attacks, certain specials involving their weapons that do not set the victim on fire, electrocute them, freeze them, etc., and also certain Desperation/Super Desperation Moves. Characters without such means of attack such as Juzoh and Lee (as they fight mainly with blunt objects, their hands, etc.) can still technically "kill" their foes too (denoted by special win quotes in their arcade runs) if they manage to win the final round of a match with a Desperation or Super Desperation Move. I main Hibiki in LB2 so I can tell you that the moves you want to consider using to end the final round if you want to trigger the kill animations to get the psychopath ending are all of her Strong attacks, specials including Distance Slash, Beckoning Slash, her unblockable (available only in Power Mode), her Desperation and Super Desperation. If blood is turned off, none of these will cause the kill animation - even with the Iainuki move you mentioned, and so getting Hibiki's psychopath ending is impossible.
@Loptous Her other DM is pretty hard to master so I can understand. Other than that, you did win so no need to beat you over the head with that. Okay, it looks cheap since you weren't as diverse as you could've been but then again, it's still worthy. Hibiki has many moves but it takes quite some time to master her completely. And for someone who claims to "suck", you did pretty good.
@alrune8 I could have done better against Kaede and Juzoh (which I had to purposely get hit by after I missed the first DM). I also had quite a lot of luck against Moriya and Kouryu. They could have punished me pretty badly. The run doesn't have much diversity either. I pretty much only used her quick slash and DM.
i have this on dreamcast but i SELDOMLY play it. it doesnt appeal to me as much as samurai spirits even tho its GORGEOUS to look at. however i do use hibiki in cvs2. maybe ill pick this back up because it is a great game overall and something for me to get into besides KOF, FF or SF
+Dark Ryoshi You need to deal with the NeoGeo dip switches, there's a menu for that too usually to turn them on, think of it like a BIOS menu, emulator should have options for that.
Did you play on a emulator?? Because I use the Neo-Geo emulator and, because I can't do things like blood and kill the enemy (sorry for my grammar I'm no to good with that jaja)
I actually prefer to play her on either Speed or EX, mostly EX so that I can get my Speed combos, my Super cancels and my SDM. See my video response for a glimpse of how I use her in actual human combat. You'll even see my Hibiki Bankai. For someone who uses her on Power, you didn't suck as bad as you said you did, lol.
Hibiki's a nice girl that isn't used to the bloodshed. If you bisect EACH of your foes, she gradually becomes more of a "psychopath". When she says, "I can't take it, I'm going mental!" she's close to breaking. When she killed Moriya @4:50, she broke and you get a different ending where she has an evil sneer and says, "I will triumph!" I don't know if there's a non-psycho ending on youtube for Hibiki...
