One of the most treasured and uniquely beloved songs of the holidays - Last Christmas , often described as high watermark of mid-80s British Synthpop songcraft , is an evergreen top of the charts by Wham!
A British pop-duo (1982-1986) , consisting of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley , was one of most commercially successful pop-acts of the 80s.
Released in December 1984 , a synth-pop , Christmas genre , the song was written by the duo and produced by George Michael under the label - Columbia , Epic , CBS. It was hit single from their album - ‘Music from the edge of Heaven.’
Upon its release , the song spent 5 consecutive weeks at no.2 in the UK’s Singles Chart. After many chart runs in subsequent years , it finally reached at no.1 in the UK’s Singles Chart and became a part of RCA Records catalogue. It also became the 5th UK no.1 Single for the duo.
Outside UK , the song topped the charts in other European countries - Denmark , Germany , IrelND , Slovenia and Sweden. It peaked within the top-10 of the charts in Australia , Canada and the US.
