Follow along as we re-make our 2021 Trans America Trail video series. Each day we will have new footage of our trip as we make our way across America on our Honda CRF 450L and 450RL dual sport motorcycles.
This is day 21, our last day in Colorado. In this video we ride our Honda CRF450L and RL over the rocky slopes of Ophir Pass. Then, as we exit Colorado and head into Utah the terrain starts changing significantly.

Did you modify the stock suspension settings to account for the additional weight of the luggage? The weight rating sticker on my 2023 CRF450RL states maximum weight at 220 Lbs.

I lowered my suspension by 2”, but front and rear (by installing internal spacers), and I put a lighter sprig on the rear because I only weigh 140 lb. It did fine with the luggage as long as I didn’t scoot it too far back.

We got most of our fuel at gas stations, but there were a couple of days in Idaho and Colorado that we had to carry two gallons with us

Your Colorado TAT videos are what ultimately pushed me to buy my bike last year, especially the one with the single track through the forest. If I don’t get to ride the whole TAT, I will definitely be covering the entire state of Colorado if it’s the last thing that I do. Hopefully sooner than later.

I highly suggest checking out the Wyoming portion as well, along with the Black Hills of South Dakota. That mix is the best the Middle States have to offer.

No rides planned right now, just sold the CRF. I’ve been mostly doing hare scrambles (GNCC) on my KTM 250

Gonna be doing the Colorado BDR next month with a buddy. I'll be on my 450RL and he on his WR450. What time of the year were you guys up on all the pass's and what sort of temperature differences should we expect on the summits of the rides? Just trying to think ahead for the cold. The top of Pike's Peak was about 35 degrees colder than at the base.....so just wondering. Thanks

We did it in July. I don’t remember it being cold, if you have rain gear you should be fine. Have fun!
