ugh. I’m heartbroken. to think that there’s only one tumble bug left!! I heard rumors that this one could be saved, but ultimately it’s destroyed… and knowing that this type of ride used to be in EVERY park, it’s funny, I think I might know why, and it’s not the only one that had this fate: since tumble bugs were made by Traver Engineering, and so were the circle ship rides that used to be everywhere! In the book Lakeside: A century of fun, Lakeside’s traver tumble bug and circle ship were both removed at the same time, due to the fact that insurance inspectors had to get to some kind of center drive shaft that was embedded in concrete, which they used dynamite to get to, and destroying the ride in the process. Worst of all, the mechanism that they wanted to inspect was in perfect working order, meaning they destroyed the rides for nothing.
@@HowTo4Uvideos quite a few years ago after my first trip, i couldn't wait to get back to support the park. It was lively and growing, so much hope. The following year they got the ferris wheel. Now, unfortunately there isn't much of a draw to have me drive back across the state there, and I'm sure many feel the same way.
This was one of two only Tumble Bugs left at the time... Who knows, Kennywood might be next, it is possible for the Tumble Bug at Conneaut and maybe Chippewa Lake's Tumble Bug to be restored, while the others are long gone.
Nothing was saved aside from the cars which were sold off, everything else was cut up with torches and scrapped including many parts from the chippewa bug that had been carefully salvaged to keep this one running.
