Mike is in Brazil and is looking for a VW camper van. He visits the VW company where the last camper vans are rolling off the production line.
In Wheeler Dealers Trading Up (season 2) Mike's challenge is to turn 3000 USD into a Ferrari 348 sports car.

That is amazing they were still producing them close to the 1960's style. Why would they stop producing those??? I want one!!!

Brazil stopped producing it because new car laws obligations for ABS brakes and air bags for brand new cars. The old Camper couldn't afford for those.

Unitl 31/12/2013, Volkswagen keep in production this Kombi Clipper (at least it was this designation in Brazil), but no longer using air-cooled engine, just a modern 1.4L 4cylinders fuel injection. But still a nice exemple of a reliable car/van. Those, was sell for 2 to 3 times a price of a brandnew compact-car, back in 2013.

I like vw bus T2, awesome design since 1968, they are more confortable and have the best visibility than vw bus split window.

my thoughts exactly. I mean before I actually watched an episode of this show and only saw the commercials I assumed they just rented out a workshop for ed in each place and had him do in the repairs like on the regular show. That said I do like the aspect of having mike meet a local expert and use his garage every episode, but they just HAVE to fit ed in somehow, even if he just calls him about mechanical advice every now and then or something....

this grill in front of the vw t2 is awful.its cheap and ungly.the original is better

the original had no grill as the motor was aircooled, these are equipped with modern watercooled engines so they needed an radiator in the front

djmhyde Crappy test, because everybody knows that Kombis are fucking dangerous to drive. well it's a 70's vehicle, of course they are dangerous, but is a classic vehicle a part of the automotive history.... by the way "crappy test".. welll, so because the vehicle is dangerous, let's make'em more dangerous avoiding this basic test.... very silly comment and every single vehicle is dangerous, cause even in a Tesla S if you hit a lorry at 70mph you will die....

Beto de Freitas My Father and his brother my uncle where both kombi nuts, probably between the two of them about 20 odd kombis thru the 70's and 80's and various other VW models. Fantastic people mover and great in the bush with the engine over the rear drive wheels and that air cooled engine fantastic economy on fuel.

VW Brazil is known for the lowest quality in cars round here. And about the "modern" Kombi shown in the video wich is equipped with a 1.4 liter water cooled engine still uses the old 4-gear transmission. That is just rubbish! They just don't care about safety! This thing can reach up to 90mph. The crumple zone is the driver's face. Steering is inaccurate. Stability is the same since early air-cooled models. Yet it is the most used "school bus" for our children... The real reason for the end of production of this death trap is the new law that requires ABS and standard airbags. Good bye Kombi! You should have gone a long time ago!

+Walter Jr. The old gearboxes are fine. People expect too much from an old car. I have a T3, and drive about 50 tops. Why? Because thats it's designed speed for cruising, even though it goes well over 100 with the GTI engine. Those new combi's go 90 downhill, with a tail wind, falling from a cliff perhaps.

They could have at least dropped a 5 speed in there, 4 speeds are rubbish for economy and there is no reason to be using one in this day and age weather an auto or manual.
