Leaving lots of hard work behind can be tough, but keeping your eyes on the future is often more rewarding. Join me as I enter my next journey and take you along. Have you made any big changes to achieve what you felt you needed to for yourself or your family? I would love to hear about it 🌻

New chapters are super exciting! The thought of a new (blank?) canvas is exhilarating. Welcome to our piece of heaven here in the Garden Route! I must say, one of the main reasons we returned to George was precisely for that sense of community - and with that, the piece of mind that our little daughter will grow up happy and healthy.

Indeed they are and well done for following your heart and returning. I am sure you have not looked back at all 😀 I, too, have little ones which is part of why I am back here. I actually grew up in Riversdale just down the road so I am very aware of the importance of amazing people and community when growing up. if you want to meet up then pop me a DM on my FB or Insta page. Would be great to meet more fellow gardeners in the area 🌻

I cannot even being to describe to you what it is like! I am spending every waking second outside, whereas I was almost bound to the indoors in CPT with the wind. It's really something to behold! Hehe, yeah I'm not going to lie I a really, really happy and excited. I've been looking for land for more than 5 years and with everything just aligning it's such a relief. Lots of hard work ahead but it will be oh so worth it in the end 🌻

Fantastic! You’re moving to a place that sounds similar to where I’m going. (Except for that winter/summer reversal thing)-My climate is hot, humid, generally not all that windy (except when the occasional hurricane comes roaring through) with rich productive soil. Good luck. I’ll see you in the garden.

Sounds like pure bliss (minus the hurricanes 😂). A generally good climate makes a huge difference when growing food and I'm sure we are both going to love our new climates! Have fun and enjoy every little bit 🌻

Enjoy the move....all the best for the move. Keep the kettle and coffee with you in the car. So you can get to that immediately at the other side.

Oh wow you’ve moved! Wishes for a incredibly wonderful adventure for you and your family in good health and so much joy🙏 (my little fig tree that we bought from you 3 1/2 years ago is still managing to live….just!) Agree with you about this wind here in the deep south, it’s hectic! Best of luck Craig and look forward to your sharing your experiences in starting up your homestead from scratch….so exciting!

Oh wow, I'm glad to hear its still going but yes, the CPT winds do make it tough for figs and other plants. I also struggled quite a hit with figs in CPT but since being in the garden route theybhave exploded with growth. There re also figs everywhere here. They can handle heat, but I think their big leaves and wind don't go well together because they loose so much moisture through their big leaves. I really cannot wait to share the new journey and plans with everyone. I really think it's going to be an awesome (but different) journey to follow, but time will tell. Thank for your long standing and ongoing support 🙏🌻

All the best on that new journey! Why did you move and what will happen to your home and garden in Cape Town?
@MySustainabilityJourney
@MySustainabilityJourney 7 месяцев назад
@nadoubidou thank you so very much 🙏 I have actually been looking for land for the last 5 years and have just never been at ease about any of them. When it comes to buying land you cannot rush into things so I waited a very long time until I found what was perfect for me. Everything also just seemed to align and things happened very quickly which was very exciting. A big part of the move was for the kids. I grew up in a small town and absolutely loved it and know what it is about. The people are amazing, it is safe, children are accepted for who they are and a homesteading life is accepted, if not promoted. In Cape Town all the opposites apply. The people are horrible (talk to someone and they look at you weird or turn around), children are frowned at it they make a peep and generally speaking your neighbours will call law enforcement at the sight of a fly or the cluck of a chicken. At our previous house our children were outright scared of living there or to go outside. We were threatened at so many levels because of our lifestyle. We had health inspectors show up, police and ongoing intimidation. It is unfortunately the self-centered, city-living mentality that I did not want my kids to grow up with. The kids have absolutely flourished since being here and visiting the farm. It's almost like they have become children again and we have met more people genuine people in the last 3 weeks than in the last 10 years in CPT. My hope is to inspire others to not suffer through the struggles and that making a change can benefit everyone and create a brighter and healthier future for our children 🌻

@@nadoubidou with regards to the garden, I managed to take all my potted items with me like some fruit trees, my coffee trees and other things like ginger, tumeric, blackberries & raspberries. Besides that everything stayed behind for the new owners and my hope is that they continue what I created to benefit themselves in the years to come 🌻

Wow! Reading your replies to others is shocking to hear how much stress your whole family have been going through. I’m so happy for you all to be beginning a new, happier and healthier life away from all the ignorance of city dwellers…and of course away from that perpetual wind 💨 🙂🪴🌻🍓

Yeah, we just had to put up with everything that was happening and we could handle it but the poor kids, it was not fair on them. Unfortunately most people don't care about anything except for themselves and their needs 😔 On a more positive note the people here are absolutely incredible! These are genuine people that appreciate and value human relationships and it's a place where children are accepted and embraced. It's really made us all so happy and the journey ahead something amazing to look forward to 💚🌻
