As the mom of 4 grown children being prepared and organized was key to keeping things in control as well as reducing stress. Now that you have prepared your nest, take some time to rest - go get a pedicure or a foot massage. It won't be long before you are staring into the eyes of life's and loves greatest miracle - your new baby. Wishing you and your family all the love and joy a new baby brings!
Padsicles were my best friend postpartum!! Those baskets were such a sweet gesture, I wanted to do that but went into labor early and completely forgot 🤦🏼♀️ guess I will have to do it with the next one!! Can’t wait to see baby boy, the Sophisticated Organization gang is on baby watch! 👀
Such a sweet idea to bring the nurses a thank you basket. I’m sure they will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Best of luck to you and your husband as you embark on this incredible adventure of parenthood!
May I suggest adding a changing pad to your bedroom cart. You won’t want to change baby on you bed sheets because it’s quite messy, especially since baby’s early bowel movements are liquid. A plastic bag lined trash can to discard diapers is important. I know you would want to put dirty diapers into the special trash can in baby’s room. but when exhausted in the middle of the night, that trip might be a bridge too far. Lastly, advice from a neat freak: being organized is meant to help things run smoothly. But sometimes too much is happening at once to keep organizing systems in place. A new baby can totally disrupt even your best systems. It’s ok. Just go with it. The first six weeks of wonder (and tiredness) are like no other in your life. It will never come again, even with a second child. So let the house fall apart and make everyone else do things for you, so you can have even five more minutes with the perfect human being that you have created from your own flesh. New baby credo: sleep when the baby sleeps. It will make you a wonderful mom ( but perhaps a poor housekeeper for a few weeks. You can’t have both, but the trade off is worth it) Good luck
Wow! It's down to the wire now!!! Good luck! The baby cart is a great idea, and I'm sure it will come in very handy. Also, as someone who has worked in a hospital, I can tell you that the gifts for the nursing staff will be very much appreciated! You may want to have Jim bring them up to the nurse's desk on the day you are discharged. The contents of those baskets are great choices!! Again, good luck! Looking forward to seeing your little one!!
My baby will be 5 days old today. We have two bassinets one in the living room and one in our bedroom. He hasn't really used the one in the bedroom yet. I am fortunate because my husband is going to be a stay at home dad so he is off now until 2023 and I am ultimately on holidays until we decide when in January I go back to work. He does the day duty so I can nap during the day since he can't nap and I can and then I do the night shift so he can sleep. Baby tends to stay in the living room bassinet. I tend to change baby in the living room with our cart and a plastic bag for dirty diapers and my husband tends to walk all the way to the change table. I bought so many pads and diapers for myself and I didn't need any of it. I didn't need padisicles or diapers or heavy pads. I also had a 2nd degree tear so I am pretty stitched up so maybe that helps. Defiently get a stool softener is a for sure need though. Labour and epidural and even my pregnancy for me was way different than you see on the internet and TV.
I know you have a breast pump but I would rent an industrial grade pump for the first month from the hospital. It SERIOUSLY helps with engorgment, which lesser pumps can make worse. Even if you are nursing it helps enormously. And it doesn't set you back thousands. Also, you can prepare till the cows come home but each baby is wildly different. Just try and stay as flexible as you can. 2 of my babies were perfect angels. The other 2 I thought would levitate and start turning their heads around. Lol. What comforted most babies Made them SCREAM. One didn't sleep through the night until TWO. I hope you get the easy kind. Xo But you are a sweet girl who has thought of everything you can at this point. Just be gentle on yourself and remember...stay flexible as possible, which can be tough for first time Type A mamas. You got this!
Last stretch! This is really exciting! I remember those last days of pregnancy, waking up in the morning thinking , I am still here! I love those carts. I use one for medical supplies that I use daily.
I would suggest you have a little formula at home, just in case!!! The one thing I needed and didn’t have. Had 16 breast surgeries since then. Your getting the best gift ever for Christmas.🎁🎄👶🏻🧸💕
@@SophisticatedOrganization our nurse says to make sure you have ready to feed formula as it has less potential of bacteria plus you don't have to fuss with water measurements.
You are so sweet, things have changed so much since I had my son , 29 yrs ago, so many things today, I was in a small condo, never had enough room then couldn’t imagine doing it now, enjoy every moment, he’ll grow so fast.
What a sweet idea doing the baskets for the nurses Sophie. I am a retired nurse now but I can tell you they will love it! I am so very excited for you and your husband!❤
Add a swaddling blanket to your cart and some onesies. My daughter did the same thing as you with the cart. It was the most convenient thing for her. Currently my granddaughter is 1 years old. She is the best joy we have. Well all of my grandkids are my joy. ❤️
I think any expectant mother should watch your videos...you have such good ideas and have thought about just about everything I could possibly think of....I wish youtube was around when I had my baby so many years ago (I have three grandchildren) ....
I would add some small trash bags to the cart for soiled diapers. They can get messy and having a quick place to put a soiled diaper in a hurry is nice. Love the nurses gift basket. Best of luck on your new journey of parenthood
Wonderful idea for the nurses baskets, I am sure they’ll appreciate it. I am SO excited for you and can’t wait to see your baby boy. Wishing you both the best awaiting the excitement!!
I'm excited for you as time is nearing when baby boy will make his debut! Since the cart is near the return air duct, you might want to cover the pump accessories.
Hi Sophie! I’m watching this and wondering if you’re having the baby now. I know you film in advance. I love the cart idea and the padsicles. I wish we had those when I had my babies. The baskets for the nurses are so thoughtful and beautiful! Wishing you an easy delivery! I’m so excited for you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Praying for a safe delivery 💙 I'm not sure if you have it or I might have missed it but I recommend the vava light. Also the Imani2 wearble breat pump. Being able to wash dishes (or anything else) & pump is awesome!
Loved everything about this video ! The cart is an amazing idea and so are the pads ! Your gift baskets are simply genius ! Where did you get those adorable baskets ?
Where will you place your diaper disposal can? Also, is there any concern about freezer burn? Wish I'd known about padsicles when when I had my children. Many years ago 🙂
