Last Minute TROUBLE in China - Crazy 2nd Class Local Train from Chongqing, China - China has some of the best trains in the world however not all of them are high speed. We travelled from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie on a local train which took more than 6 hours to get there. We've previously only taken high speed trains in China and this was a new experience.

this happened to me and my wife in Lijiang, Yunan province many years ago. we were walking to the train station. i told my wife to wait for me at the door and i went to get the tickets. when i came back to the door, my wife was not there and i looked around and found her inside the station even though she didn't have a ticket probably because staff saw her walking with a cane and they let her in. when the train arrived, a staff carried her luggage up at least 30 steps to the train ( it was an old station ). he helped us to our compartment. when we arrived in Dali, there was another staff waiting for us and helped my wife also. all because she was walking with a cane !!! the Lijiang station called the Dali station to help us when we arrived there. it was such a heartwarming experience for us. BTW, we are overseas Chinese just in case if some viewers think the station staff helped us because we were white. love from canada.

n fact, Chinese people have the right to vote. Many people have some common misunderstandings about China. The first is that everyone thinks that Chinese people do not have the right to vote. The second is that people in China are not allowed to have a second child. Both of these are the result of being misled by Western media. In fact, in China, anyone who is 18 years old or older can register to vote as long as they want to vote. It’s just that people elect local people’s representatives, and then elect them layer by layer to finally elect national leaders as people’s representatives. Even in the 1980s when the one-child policy was strict, many families had 2 or even 5 children. The one-child policy was mainly aimed at the Han nationality with a large population, not everyone. Note that China has 56 ethnic groups. This policy is to encourage young couples to focus their resources, time and love on one child to avoid families that can’t even feed one child from giving birth to children like rabbits without being able to take care of them. It doesn't mean you are not allowed to have a second child.

Not exactly, because the terrain in Zhangjiajie is mostly mountainous and very rugged. Usually, we only provide green trains (conventional trains) rather than the high-speed trains which seem to be more upscale. Similarly, there are places like Shennongjia, Jiuzhaigou, etc. Even more rugged destinations like Daocheng Yading don't have trains at all and can only be accessed by bus.

@@sunkissedbucketlist It's great that you loved it. I think these people may represented the larger majority of Chinese people. People in big cities like Beijin, Shanghai, Chongqin, ... are more affluent. I grew up in Wuhan. At my childhood, even one ride in such a green train would have been a luxury that I never experienced. However, at my graduate study period in early 1980s, I had to ride often a train between Beijing and Shanghai. My boss always promoted me into sleeping coach which I did not qualify but he liked me.

I don't. Think you can lose your bag at the security at railway stations. In China , everyone getting into railway station has to show and record ID in the first place. Besides, the security check is heavily monitored by security cameras. Anyone dares to pick up other people's bag will be tracked and found. There are situations that people mistake similar bags though.

The second time was when I was back to hometown from college. I sat with five strangers. At first, everyone was cold, but gradually some people started to talking, and then we talked together. We talked about many things, the scenery along the way, future plans, various stories, etc. Haha, can you imagine? several complete strangers gathered together and talked affectionately. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. It was really an interesting journey in my life.
