Rest in peace, Diana Rigg. I should have known that they wouldn't cast an actress of her caliber, and give her a seemingly minor role as a landlady if it wasn't going to have a proper payoff.

A plot hole regarding the twist, are we seeing Sandie's memories through the room or Jack's? If Eloise was living the memories of Jack's, then how would she know of the conversations Sandie has when Jack isn't around. In it being Sandie's, it makes the twist feel like a last minute addition as she is suppose to be dead because Eloise had that hickey in the beginning and can jump into Eloise's body during the dreams so she would have been literally dead for all these things to have happened. I do believe Wright was intending for this to be a ghost story but wanted to have Sandie still triumph where for that to work is by having the twist which hinders the 1st half regarding what Eloise was experiencing.
@odd-man9281
@odd-man9281 3 месяца назад
I believe what Ellie was was dealing with in the house wasn't an average ghost but a poltergeist. A poltergiest is said to be energy created from extreme negative emotion and trauma from the person that's living there, taking form of a spirit. In this case Sandy's trauma. That's why Ellie was able to see Sandie's memories because she was psychically linked to said poltergiest that was created by trauma she experienced
@pokokuyo51
@pokokuyo51 2 месяца назад
Yes its one of the biggest flaw of the movies(among many other). We were shown the travel to the past in sandie POV but it was never the ghost of sandie so it doesn't make sense. But if we instead assume that it was a retelling of sandie story from the memories of jack and other men then it's undermining the whole "i know how you feel" scene in the final. Honestly edgar Wright really dissapoint me with this film. With so many interesting dialogue in the early part it can be clearly seen he was much more ambitious initially.

@ChildOfTheFlower 10 месяцев назад
The movie has us rooting for her because the men she killed were all her customers and she was pimped out resorting to her madness in becoming a serial killer. If you go with the notion of acknowledging Sandy's actions as still being murder despite her victims then it is easy to root against her while still having sympathy for her as she is willing to murder two innocent kids when there is no guarantee they would have exposed had she left them alone. It depends on whether you believe Sandy was as much as an angel as Eloise views her that the ending either is seen as a "you go girl" moment or Wright trying to have his cake and eating it too.

This is where the movie jumped the shark. That twist was too obvious, and the whole reveal and chase scene, were b movie slasher level. Also, I can’t feel sympathy for this sociopathic woman. Through Ellie’s eyes, maybe, because she’s too vulnerable. But Sandie was the one who made her bed, and had to lie in it. Which is something a lot of viewers lost sight of, because they just love a good old pity party. To me it was a good cautionary tale, on never thinking beauty is an end in itself.
