In all the timed I have heard this ceremony, it is the first time I have heard the birds singing. Almost as if they were telling us all that there was not only th sole Bugler present. How different to before. Thank you Last Post Association for your utter devotion. “They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old .......... at the going down of the Sun, and in the morning, we WILL remember them”.
My thanks and appreciation to the Ypres/Leper Fire service who continue to show their respect for the fallen. Also for the people of Ypres/Leper for the welcome they show to the people who visit the town to pay homage to their fallen ancestors.
Having had the privilege of being at the Menin Gates and paying respect to our brave fallen. The sound of only a bugle playing is daunting. Thank you to the men who carrying on this duty every day.
This is at the same level of commitment as in 1944 when the Meningate was liberated but there was still fighting in the city but the last post was played for the first time after being exiled for 4 years
