i watched this vod a couple of days after the game played 6 years ago, and i still cant believe Boxer didnt GG at 20 minutes in. this game is like a life lesson for me, never give up, keep your head, find the way through. Boxer Forever!
omg, this is the greatest match. The last 3-4 mins were reali intense. Boxer shot down that guy's dropship was brilliant. Also chasing the last carrier was mad sick. Boxer is the king man.
spirit wins. Boxer had it. I hope he still has it. His style, innovations, tactics, creativity was unique. Wathcing him was like watching art. Please boxer. Awaken your spirit again.
This is the boxer i know. NEVER SURRENDER, NEVER GIVE UP UNTIL CAN DONE MORE. XD I love it to see how Boxer plays. Boxer is genious and for me the LIFE Legend over all. And Joyo what is with him. I can't believe that he cannot controll his army. The last shuttle he loses what was that. This was a present for Boxer and about his Carriers i doesn't need say a word. XD PS: Thanks for uploading. I have enjoid so much XD
"Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in circumstances." Ralph Waldo Emerson Boxer made this happen quite consciously. He knew that getting that expansion away from Joyo was vital.
Boxer you are genious and the god of Star craft. I never seen a better player and i am watchung starcraft games for a long time. There is only one Emperor YYYYYOOOOOOOOUUUUUU
excellent play by boxer, only resources left on map were at the base he destroyed, he clinched at least a stale mate(whoever forfaites first) and most likely the victory being able to lift a CC and drop some SCV's.that is slayers_'boxer' classic material, excellent micro to hold the carriers off as well,GG
Judging by the races and the map design, I expected that Boxer would have a hard time fighting against protoss as terran because protoss can get to shuttle and then observers fairly quickly, whereas terran's dropship requires not only starport but also its addon. Boxer also made mistakes like building sci-facility only after getting attacked by arbiters. I never expected Boxer to win even after reading the info. My thought: Just. Simply. Amazing. Rock on, Boxer.
Of course it is! Boxer was getting all his expansion pummeled by joyo's carriers and forces. After the 10oclock expansion went down, Boxer was good as dead, but he decided to go all out on Joyo's expansion instead of quitting. It was an all or nothing, kamikaze style move. Epic.
ok, so joyo was all set to win with his carriers tearing through boxer's main base. However, boxer blew up joyo's multi and his last carrier with his goliaths (we can observe 'conserving terran' boxer's unique stategy here). So in the end, joyo was stranded on his main base with all his forces intact unable to attack because he had no carriers, arbiters, and shuttles. This map truly made its name 'paradox' worth it.
Academy is needed to get scanner (dt drop was very common at the time) and lifting barracks is a good scouting move when the map has no direct route between bases
and that is why boxer is AWESOME!!!! he busts strategy EVERYTIME he plays...u can see at the final moments when joyo dropped goon boxer immediately targeted the shuttle wit his gols....awesome guy...BOXER FOREVER!!!!
@wmzer0mw Its the greatest comeback I've ever seen. Struggling to win unit war, Boxer turns to resource war, and defeats Joyo after losing a lot of his main.
@Lordnosferatu3 A manlot is a zealot that is controlled with extremely good micro, making it more effective than a regular zealot, and therefor earning it the name manlot. Also, a Protoss player who became known as the ManToss for his manly appearance and straight forward playing style used zealots to great effect with his exceptional micro, and therefor whenever he used zealots they were called "Manlots".
Actually, if you revisit 22:54 of the video and turn on the audio, you would be able to hear the screams of dying ghosts. Presumably, anti-carrier lockdown was Boxers next plan. However, it failed to come to fruition when Jojo erased all of Boxers barracks along with the rest of the tech buildings necessary for ghost production. For the rest of the game, Boxer was kinda on a tight budget and hardly had anything left to spare for researching ghost techs.
@LolsitzGeorge I see what you mean, but its no different then a baseball player hitting a small ball with a big stick and having tons of people around the world cheer and cry for his great achievement...I just started playing SC2 in the beta and I can tell you that after playing a few games and getting stomped...looking back at this video makes me realize how incredible this comeback was :) and those koreans dont fuck around in starcraft haha
I like how in most games they're euphoric on who's killing who and during this one they're like "Yeah, so Boxer's dying...he's dying...big deal... oh, and theres another gol coming out..."
man i was so pissed im always with terran players and i was soo pissed cuz he never got tanks/mines/wraith.... but damn i cant believe he made my favorite race shine! GG!
Basic summary: Boxer killed last carriers and all units that can transport (Arbiters and shuttles) protoss was trapped, out of money and couldn't mine. gg
Zerg, tons of overlords who are (later) cargoships, Terran- floating buildings+ dropships. Toss-expensive and weak shuttles- only support units and only a few are build- (think the most i saw was 5 in a game). arbiter work, but late game and expensive too, Agree?
dude i guess u dont get how important this game is in korea if it was just a game guess 100000 people would not have come to watch it live or there wouldnt have been two tv channels in korea that broadcast games non stop 24 7 its not just a game there its a way of life i'd say the magnitude of his victory is like the jordan would have come back from a down of 50 points on the last quarter sick and blind playing washington against the laykers!!
@2kydawe I can see from your comment you have not played Brood War. This isn't Starcraft 2. Joyo opened up really good, and his storms and drop play was spot on. If you had played Brood War you would have known what happens when the game goes into overdrive, when only the top of the top can keep up the stamina and micro to outlast his opponent. Ofcourse, Joyo wouldn't be able to lose the game if this was Starcraft 2, but this is not Starcraft 2. Try BW and you will see what I mean.
I remember this game. Goliat are chipper unit then ohter mechanics. If there is a bit mineral somewhere Goliat can be produced. Joyo missed that point. He should have leaved some shuttles.
The Commentators didn't understand why boxer carried buncha goliaths but didn't drop'em. They were wondering why those drop ships kept comming back to home base.
@SweetSinFZ if you couldn't follow what was going on (probably the reason why you asked), he gg'ed because he lost his only mineral source and he didn't even have enough left to make inerceptors on his carrier.
Definition of Sport: Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Starcraft isn't physical. It's hella fun though
Toss had no mineral to make a shuttle and a nexus. But Terran had a shuttle and CC to land on 5 o'clock and 10 o'clock islands and get resources. In the long run, Terran would have more troops than Toss. Realizing this, the Toss player surrendered.
what trips me out most of the time is so many terran players rarely use Science Vessels to their advantage. EMP in these situations can lead to a quick wipe of Protoss :\
