This is my 10th attempt (and most probably my last) at a top speed test for the Fil ‪@poorboysrc‬ Tamiya TT01 / TT02 Speed Challenge 2023. I'm entering the class for brushed motors and 6/7 cell NiMh batteries. My main focus is to beat that pesky Craig ‪@theoagrc‬ , he is now at 37mph and has a last run coming! I have another friendly challenger across the pond, Paul ‪@Paul__FC‬ who whooped my best speed with a 48mph run last time out. Well done Paul, no way can my setup match that!
In this video I run my new LRP V10 Spec.6, 10x2T brushed motor but with lower gearing of 26/64, the rear wing removed and a 7 cell, 8.4v battery. Having hit 43mph on my last run, can I improve? It's not going to be easy!
Many thanks to my mate Rob ‪@robbrennanrc‬ for the help and filming of this speed run attempt.

Thanks so much, Hubertus! You know, i did take a lot of your advice! I also tried running RWD only, but as you warned, it was very unstable and unpredictable. Yes, when I think aerodynamic prowess, when I need to slip through these gaseous confines like a knife, I reach for a.... BMW Z3, with the top up. The first American Cher-man kar. The shape that also makes for a comfy computer mouse. Yes, yes, -I can see the logic in this- and yet, 45MPH!!! Also, twice now you've foregone a forward splitter, while adding a downforce-generator in the rear. I like this approach, wery wery bold, chaps! ;-)

Haha, great comment, you cracked me up laughing at myself!!! 🤣😁I know, I'm crazy, eh!!!??? But it worked!!! To give you the reason (nothing to do with planning or reason) I entered this on a very tight budget (long story, but I retired early) and started with my Ford GT TT02 chassis. No way was I gonna smash up the gorgeous body I spent days painting and detailing. The only spare basher shell I had was this Z3, so on it went!!! I had a few friends help by sending a couple of motors and ESC's, the rest of the gear I already had. And you saw the result, probably the fastest entry with the least money spent on it! It's been a total blast! Many thanks again for the smiles!!!

Ha ha, what an awesome video and great speed achieved there, mate! Is that your birthday or the speed that got all those endorphins going on you? You were on fire, dude! And thanks for the shout out, of course I'm still watching, it's my Saturday morning here, so was still a bit asleep, got woke up by hearing my name, ha ha! It's been a great event, this. You really recapped it very well there. I have to confess I sort of lost focus and interest on my own effort, so it was a good reminder about the good times! I've said it before and I will say it again, I really admire how your car has been set up, so stable all through the challenge, and especially in this video, just cruising back and forward at a crazy 45 miles per hour. Very well done, my friend!
@MarkBryanRC

Thanks for the kind comments, Mads! Haha, i think it was the thrill of the run that got my endorphins flowing! As you know, it's quite a rush driving at scale speeds of over 400mph! I've been meaning to shout you in a few videos but my old brain keeps forgetting everything! At least i remembered this time. it sure was a ton of fun, always better with Rob to spur me on! Yeah, I'm amazed at how well my car drives, it really is very controllable even at top speed, lucky for me with those kerbs around! All the best as always and take care my good friend!

Well done on improving to 45mph🥳 👍I was not able to improve using numerous things (slimmer body, increasing motor timing, better road pebble free, rebuilding the motor, reducing or increasing gear ratio), still stuck at 55. I guess, sadly, no more gas in the tank and not enough time to get a 8 turn or... lower 🤪
@MarkBryanRC

You need to have put hours of time into building and endless runs of the car to be able to truly appreciate the level of excitement that comes from breaking that target!! Ah, so you picked up on how excited I was after clearing 50 and beating Taylor then did you?? 😂 Jumping up and down in joy despite the car being totally wrecked in the process!! 🤣 As for those curbs.... the reality is that you and Rob built better cars that were more stable, and drove them better than we did to mate- Credit to you guys through and through! @@MarkBryanRC Mark, you are very welcome and I'm just trying to help friends out.... It might just be me but I prefer hard wired wires from the esc to motors... I really can't stand the Tamiya "Bullet Connectors" they like to use and it seems to be the standard... Funny how you don't really see them or the Molex connector(s) on most brushless systems. Maybe someone should do a real world test video on connectors but that's a lot of work.. Hell, it could be a series of videos.. Using the same esc, motor and battery but just changing the plugs/connectors and recording the run from one to the other and so on.... Top speed and run times should be a part of it, plus resistance of said plugs and the temps before and after (a) run(s)...
