I found this 10 years post release, far from Houston, in a country 8 time zones away. I too watched Astros games with my grandmother growing up. But for us, it was the 80s and 90s, in her house off 1960, by the Hardy Toll road. 3 things you could bet on in our house growing up, if the Astros, Rockets or Oilers were playing, grandma would be watching it. We spent many evenings catching the games together, while I finished my homework. I didn't know then how much those days would mean to me either. I got to see alot of games in person, especially during those leaner years in the 80s and 90s, when guys like Doran, Biggio, Bagwell, Servais, Finley and Gonzales were cutting their teeth and turning into the great players they would become. Many school and summer nights were spent behind the first base dugout catching a 7:05 start. And those were special to me too. I even played my last high school football game in the Astrodome, my final game ever in fact. As a juggernaut of a North Shore program proved to be human, but just better than us that day. The next week, they packed in 45 thousand people to the dome to see Vince Young and Madison High meet North Shore in a battle of the unbeatens. And history of another kind was written in the dome that night. But yeah, watching with my grandmother all those nights, especially when we got good and had that run of division titles later into the 90s, or when Randy Johnson came to the team.... yeah, as I get older, those moments with my grandmother, are what I cherish. The nastalgia of my childhood came rushing back to me watching this. I think you did a great job making this movie. I think it will resonate with the millions of Houstonians who grew up around the city in her 34 year reign, as the 8th wonder of the world, and the Jewel of the Bayou City. I loved this film, great work. Cheers to your Gran Gran for inspiring this in you.

Seeing George Strait and the Astros games there. NRG stadium and MMP will never be as awesome as the Dome. Dome for Life.

Wow! What an incredible heart felt video. I am a fan of this dome despite being a White Sox fan. I saw Comiskey Park torn down and as a fan of old historical ball parks, it sucks! The Astrodome is and always will be pure americana! Thank god the dome is still with us! I envy you because you have had an experience I'll never get in that you have been inside the 8th wonder of the world! Thank you for making this film. :-)

Sweet, sweet video. Nearly had me in tears. I love that Astrodome so much. Spent many a Sunday in there watching the Oilers. Huge thrills watching ELVIS! I think we will get to keep it. It is just too precious not to.

A great, touching short film that deserved its award. Even so, I have to appeal to you all not to buy into the doom scenario that has been repeated in this film. That imminent tear-down story was begun by mass media (based on interviews with "players" who are misleading the media for their own purposes) and has been spread and perpetuated in social media. The facts are that a hearing will be held NEXT WEEK in Fort Worth that will lead to State protection against demolition, and also protection against changes that would destroy the character of the building for commercial reasons. And a process for reasonable progress to an economically vibrant Dome and Reliant/NRG Park. Ted Powell and Cynthia Neely have done great work getting the Dome to this status, and they will be making the case for protection at the hearing. You should be aware as well, that numerous individuals, corporations and groups are still as we speak working on solving the challenge of a future for the Dome that makes everything about Reliant Park better for everyone including the Rodeo and Texans. Everyone is trying to figure out how to celebrate the Dome's heritage--and stay within expected preservation rules--while making it a commercial success, while honoring in full the existing relationships with major tenants. ASTRODOME*TOMORROW and I have already figured it out...

First of all thank you for your compliment regarding my short film. It all happened so fast. When I went to go pick up the seats that day, I had no intention of making this film. It just happened, and I wanted to take advantage of the moment even though I am not a filmmaker. The one thing that I was trying to do with this film was provide education on why the Astrodome was so significant and worth preserving for generations to come. How you got a "Doom Scenerio" from my film really baffles me. In fact, I was trying educate others that there is still hope to preserve the Dome if we all come together as a collective effort. However, if we continue to remain separate in our efforts to Save The Astrodome, then it will continue to confuse the general public that depends on the media to tell them what they think is the truth. I am happy that Ted Powell and Cynthia Neely are speaking at the upcoming hearing and for the efforts they are doing. As a matter of fact, I hope they will participate in the feature documentary project that I am now working on about the Dome and it's future. I have done a lot of research for this project, I have heard their names before, but what scares me is that I never heard of this hearing in Fort Worth until you brought it up. This is concerning to me considering that the ones that are trying their best to preserve the dome is getting all of the communication. I also want to thank you for your efforts at ASTRODOME*TOMORROW. I would also like your input regarding our the feature documentary. It is a beautiful plan that obviously cost a lot of money to do, so that leaves me with ultimate question: "Where is the money?". Taxpayers did not put enough effort out to fund a proposal that is a lot more scaled back than what you are proposing which leaves the responsibility of funding on private investors. Is the money there for this proposal? Ultimately, all of the issues that you and I have brought up need attention. We live in a society that gets their news from traditional (local and national news/radio) and non-traditional sources (ex: Facebook & RU-vid). Documentaries like "Gasland" and "Black Fish" have propelled change in social issues that are not being looked at. They help educate the public on why they should pay attention to what is going on and call them to action to make it better. That is my goal with the feature documentary. My hope and mission of the short film and movie will educate others on why the Dome is so iconic and significant to not only our past, but America's past, and promote a call to action to "Preserve The Dome". Sure, it is in disrepair, but several other iconic structures have been in worse shape and some how were preserved for the sake of history and allowing future generations to enjoy. I hope the same for our Historic Dome that is the first of it's kind when built. Now, it has the opportunity to be the first of it's kind again and may help other cities with ideas on how they repurpose their aging public facilities. Once again the Dome can be the innovator and the first of it's kind to propel change. We want to show how sensitive it is that we do something NOW to save our iconic landmark before it is too late not only for Houston, but for the rest of the world. I hope we can all work together to make this happen.

Wish I could have bought a pair of them seats. Watched so many games and other events at the Astrodome. Quick story though. I went to a doctor's appt one year. New docs office. Don't know how I didn't see them when I got there but saw them on the way out out in the lobby. A pair of the orange Astrodome seats. I had to sit on them one last time. The memories.

First Astroworld, and now the Astrodome. These were staples in my childhood growing up in Houston in the 70's and 80's. All things come to an end I guess.

Knowing Selena Quintanilla also meant learning about her environment and the Houston Astrodome is a part of her achievement. her goal. her lifelong dream as she had watched Michael Jackson when she was younger and had told herself that she will be playing in the Astrodome someday and it did for 3 consecutive years closing each night on a grand scale with a full house!

I had a chance to go to the Astrodome, it was New Year’s Eve 1999, we were supposed to go to a Christian Concert, Youthlink 2000, but unfortunately not enough signed up for it, so it was moved next door to the Astrohall. My one chance, gone
