What a wonderful trip Oliver. Glad you were enjoying yourself alone. I think a lot of people travel alone for many reasons.......they like the solitude......they enjoy going and doing things at their own pace....they want to make their own schedule. Sometimes it's hard going on vacation with people. You have to be willing to do things they want to do, and sometimes it can mess up your own plans. And sometimes we all want to enjoy food places or the scenery alone. Thank you for taking us along on this trip. It was so fun seeing everything 😁
Hi Oliver! I'm 50+ and I've enjoyed traveling alone since my 30's. I also enjoy traveling with friends and family but traveling alone allows me to plan my own agenda. I also eat meals alone in restaurants. I don't pretend to read books or get on my phone. I try to find a table where I can people watch or just enjoy the meal in deep thought. Hi Oliver. I have travelled alone quite a bit. I find that I learn more things that way. It makes me talk to people and ask questions. Strangely, I don’t enjoy it as much now as I did when I was younger. Sometimes though, we need to spend some time alone. It looks like you had a lovely, relaxing trip. Thanks for sharing.

I am never alone but I will stay up late and wait for everyone to go to sleep so I can claim a bit of time for myself ….I often fall asleep and my dog will come and tell me “YOU are snoring!” and so I hug and kiss him and head off to bed hahahaha. It’s important to have that in my life and I think it helps me to gather myself …even if it ends in snoring 💤 Thank you for sharing your trip-I feel like I was there with your narration of places and beautiful footage! I don't remember Kyoto as being so noisy....when I was traveling, it was much quieter...people just didn't talk much openly outside. The "hushed" feeling was exquisite.
I'm so glad that you decided not to worry about what other people think and you went to that terrace and had a wonderful experience. You will never see any of those people again, so it is best to take these special opportunities seriously!

I discovered peaceful travel in 🇯🇵 on my very first travel in January 2020. My friends wanted to travel with me in 🇯🇵 but I refuse 😂 as I wanted them to travel solo. Something special is waiting for you in 🇯🇵

Sorry for the late comment (as usual). I travel alone to Japan, even though a friend wants to come with me all the time because I find solace and comfort. I am also an introvert so being with someone, even a friend, can be exhausting at the end of the day. There is nothing wrong with travelling solo especially to Japan because it is safe. It is selfish to say that you can do whatever you want. However, there is a difference between wanting to travel alone, and travelling alone because you are forced to. Wanting to travel with a friend but no one wants to, can be difficult. It can make you feel down.

Since I’ve separated from my partner , I no longer find joy in traveling , being 23 and a women , the odds are not really in my favor. I only travel with family but I would love to travel with that good special partner. It’s nice to know that you and that special partner have lived the trip together and it’s a special bond to recall those memories in a intimate way.

Porque não encontrei uma pessoa com o mesmo interesse, disponibilidade e tempo para viajar junto. Hoje em dia, há agências de viagens especializadas em atender pessoas que viajam sozinhas, principalmente mulheres e pessoas com mais de 50 anos. 😘
I Oliver. Last time I shared with you that in the next 3 yrs I plan to move to Okinawa. But originally it was Kyoto until I discovered how the winters were and I wanted more of a tropical feel like my home of Hawaii but with still the Japanese culture. But seeing Kyoto it sure makes my heart want it too. By the way, I travel, dine, do everything alone or with my dogs if allowed. It's my choice. I love my time alone. I'm a quiet person and I move to the beat of my own drum which most I've tried to befriend don't like. They find me boring. So by choice I no longer seek friendships. Being alone (w/dogs) works for me. My husband (RIP) was perfect for me because he loved and accepted me just how I am as I did him. There will never be another him.
