For this show we go to Morocco, to the port city of Tangiers. Legendary as a destination for foreign writers and spies, it’s become a Mecca for migrants from across Africa who are desperate get to Europe. Tangiers is just 40 kilometres from Spain, but many of the migrants never manage to make that last hop, and end up stranded in and around the sprawling city.

I'm a black american, and I find fault with the Sub-Saharan Africans. I don't feel sorry for them. How dare you take over someone else's apartment???!!! That man was being nice by not getting a group of people and having the squatters thrown out. If these men have money to rent an apartment....... why not start a business in your own country and help build? Europe and Morocco don't owe you anything. It's not your right to invade another country for a "better life." All of those men could have put their money together and started a business. It's not racism - it's a mass invasion of able body young men. We are currently dealing with the same mess in America with economic migrants who pay smugglers (coyotes) $5000 and more to cross into America. The world doesn’t owe you anything. Use your money to build your countries up instead of invading other countries.

I understand your point of view, however these people are desperate and destitute because of the color of their skin. They want to rent and no one would let them I am sure that whatever country on the African Continent they are from is being exploited by European colonizers and corrupt government officials. The color of their skin in a foreign land makes them stand out. Please look deeper as to why they are there and passing through before they are judged. As you can see we as a black people are hated by most on a global scale.

Bubbly so am I. This occurs the same way the people of Morocco have taken over an entire AFRICAN Country all the while blocking AFRICANS from coming back into their own lands-Morocco. They substitute the word "sub-saharan" to pretend this Country does not belong to AFRICANS. Other races lots of them from France, Jews, Arabs etc dominate an AFRICAN country. That is what's shameful! The problem is that Morocco is an African struggling country as well with a high unemployment rate also think about what happen when all these ppl get hungry they go in groups to the nearest city and just take whatever they can Moroccans are very welcoming but they are struggling too and it’s the government problem making millions of euros from Europeans union to keep immigrants out of Europe and don’t use that money to help them in Morocco like they suppose to do

Its still nice but not in the big cities. You will rarely see african migrants in chefchaouen or fes, but they are prevalent in casablanca and rabat

It is a troubling situation if they do have any diseases, and honestly most do. And not knowing what will happen next to them, do they understand that if your being pushed back why keep trying. I’m sure there are many situations each faces in their lives. Unless your country is completely not at war, like Syrians you won’t be allowed to go further.

Throughout the city people give charity to them, feed them, clothe them and take care of them overall. France24 should talk about how they are treated in Lampedusa, how they are beaten by law enforcement in France and how they are eating off of trash. I have never seen one of these guys looking for food in trash, they are well fed and gather good sums of money. And it's been the case for more than 2 decades. Not sure what a western country would have done.

@thinkagain1187 Well, they rent apartments from all the money they get in charity from begging in the streets. Unfortunately in previous years, they even went into empty apartments and squatted them. They'd break the walls and open up a window to yet another apartment. It was chaotic at some point in the Boukhalef area of Tangier. Especially since most of those apartments are owned by people who live in Europe or have them as a secondary residence.

Why u blame them for braking apartments to enter ? Why dont u think the rents in all world are so expensive because thousands people has apartments which they dont use or thry has very old houses or apartments abonded from more then 20, years . And the government dont do nothing ,is not about maroco ,is everywhere. People dont have where to live and what about the refugees who are discriminated . Why do they think it will be any different for them in Europe. The problem is they are not wanted there either the people of Europe do not want any more competition for the jobs they have a hard time already. They are prepared to work for less money so that means the locals have to take less money if they want to compete for a job and they don't see that as fair in their own country. They wouldn't like it in their country but seem to think its ok in someone else's country and the locals are all racist if they don't accept it
