This movie has many lessons we can’t ignore and a major lesson here is how you build your marriage/relationship from scratch. Sometimes love is not enough because many things/forces could break two people so much inlove apart( the case of the mother in law for instance). That’s why other things like commitment, care and devotion to each other should be a paramount factor of the relationship. Morenike realised Laolu was very caring, committed and devoted to her wellbeing when they fell apart and it changed everything for her. Daughter & Mother dialogue was emotional. Hubby standing up for himself was super great, the insult was too much abeg. I really like the writing here. They didn’t make Laolu’s financial condition improve before the MIL learned to respect him, which is something to commend. Typical Naij stories would do predictable stuff like make him suddenly rich and put her at his mercy before she has a change of heart, but that’s just the same oppression and elitism flipped on its head. Instead they gave us context for her behavior, then a development arc. Really well done 🤌🏾
