Tbh giving them a time out in a heating blanket is more like a punishment than a reward lol.. you get used to the cold because the ice is added gradually...if you warm up and come back to the total ice cold bath it will be an extremely sudden change in temperature and you get a mild shock... That's what happened to Joey here...

Same with indoor track runners in the north. They have to run in temperatures that are always below freezing, and they do it with their shirts off in order to breathe easier

The cold helps loosen tendons in your muscles, so in laymans terms, you are more flexible and is the reason why you stretch after running, lift weight, or any athletic activity.
