So after getting the papers for the restriction, just undo it again. There is basically no way for police to tell if the bike is restricted or not as long as the vehicle documents are correct. You seem to have the skill to handle this machine at its full potential so just go for it.
You’re absolutely right, and the temptation is to do so is huge. The thing is, if you cause an accident you will be seen as ‘uninsured’ after inspections. But thank you! Might do it, might wait until I get my R6 next year.
@@rblrides4397 right, actually never really considered the insurance aspect. Do you think insurance inspectors could actually notice such a thing as a unrestricted ecu map?
@@gerhardgarstenauer4229 depends on multiple factors; if it still rides they can just put it on a dyno. Also depends on how it is restricted, mine is restricted on the throttle body, which can be seen just by looking at a small piece of metal near the motor, because the ecu map can only restrict to 25kw for my model.
You’d be surprised but; not too much! It’s restricted on the throttle so for the first two gears it drives the same, starting from gear 3 you’ll start to feel the difference. Also, the sixth gear becomes useless, as it doesn’t have enough power to go over 9-10k revs in fifth gear (even after I adjusted the gearing for more acceleration)
I've seen the video, great video and thank you for the suggestion! Recording with an external mic is a great setup but expensive. I'll get one when I get my new bike.
Luckily it isn’t that bad, most of the time it will be between -5 and 5 degrees celsius. Some days it’ll get up to 10+ degrees and with the right gear every day above 5 degrees is rideable!
Good question, I use Rock Oil Kool XL. But if that’s not available I’d suggest a quick google on ‘best coolant sv650’ and looking at the svforum post from 2018. forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=229397
@@rblrides4397 Definitely went to google before asking people on RU-vid. Hard to find a straight answer like “go to autozone buy xxxx xxx color xxxx and it will work”
WHY? That's exactly what I thought when I heard that I had to restrict it to get insurance and if I wouldn't it would be seen as driving without a licence. It's because I have an A2 (up to 35kw) license which will turn into a A licence (unlimited) when I turn 24
How do you restrict?!?! The SV650S 2011 model I want to buy needs to be restricted so I can legally ride it but I can for the life of me figure out where I can do this..
Good question, the SV650S after 2002 can't be restricted on ECU. You have to get a throttle restriction and depending on your country you need a certificate for the restriction and a print of a dyno run. In what country do you ride?
@@causionsinclair5881 no problem, just glad to be of any help. So I’ve looked it up and apparently you need a LAMS restricted ECU in new zealand, sadly I couldn’t find a link for you. Hope you can get your hands on one, or maybe you can find a SV that is LAMS approved!
@@rblrides4397 I appreciate your time man, I really did try doing some searching myself but w the lack of knowledge/terminology about road bikes I wasn’t having much luck
I’m from the Netherlands, and drivers between the age of 21 and 24 get an A2 license which means you can drive motorcycles up to 35kw of power (mostly 600cc bikes, except supersport ones). A SV650 has 53kw of power, so I’ll have to wait until my license becomes unrestricted.
@@romanmarkus8459 had to do some research for that one, but it seems like that’s no problem. You still have the valid EU license for the bike you’re driving (as long as you have proof that it’s 35kw, usually should be on your registration certificate)
That’s great, never said I used the full power or was riding at it’s or my limit. Good to hear you moved on to a big boy bike, the mk1 rides great! But the looks..
