‘Lasting Legacy’ is the official charity anthem of COP28 (www.cop28.com), the United Nations Climate Conference hosted in the UAE. The song features renowned artists from across the world, serving as a unique call to action to accelerate the global response to climate change and nature loss.

🎻 The melody for this piece came to me during a journey I made some years ago, when I was blessed to spend many days and nights immersed in and transformed by sacred music and ceremonies. When I later decided to set this poem by the Azerbaijani mystical poet Nasimi to the melody, I was amazed at how perfectly his words matched the music I had composed. Investing in women isn't just the right thing to do; it's key to boosting climate action. Here's why: Although climate change affects everyone, it does not affect everyone equally. Initiatives that consider the different needs, roles and responsibilities of women and men in all their diversity and ensure their equal participation in decision-making at all levels are more effective and inspire social cohesion, benefiting society as a whole. Yet, according to- UN Women -only 0.01% of global funding supports projects that address both climate and women's rights. Designing and implementing gender-responsive budgets and financing mechanisms at national and international levels ensures that these initiatives are properly and sustainably implemented. Transitioning towards low-carbon and more just economies requires financing, which is the key🗝️ driver of climate action, but it must address specific challenges and harness the contributions of half of the world's population - girls and women 😅

COP28 marked a significant milestone in addressing the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution. Countries were urged to integrate nature-based solutions into their national climate plans. This call was part of a decision by countries on the first “global stocktake” to accelerate climate action this decade😅

Based on a globally representative survey involving 130,000 people across 125 countries, these findings highlight that a majority of the global population supports climate action. And 89% demand that national governments should do more to fight climate change. Even with these promising numbers, the study found that people consistently underestimate others' willingness to act on climate change. Why does this matter? Because people who underestimate public support for climate action are less likely to take action themselves. ‌So the next time you feel alone in the fight for our planet, remind yourself that you are part of a global majority pushing for change 😅

Our partners and loved ones are not responsible for our happiness. They are responsible for their own happiness and we are responsible for our own happiness. If we feel unhappy, our loved one is not to blame. Blaming is a waste of time that should be spent seeking peace. The truth is simple: we feel satisfied and happy when our thoughts are peaceful. We feel dissatisfied and unhappy when are thoughts are not peaceful. When our thoughts become agitated and begin to fluctuate between anger and revenge, we should immediately focus on restoring our minds to peace. Strategies such as “getting even” are futile and will only lead to lingering unhappiness. Do we really have the intention to become calm and peaceful? Have we grown addicted to the rush we feel when we are enraged? Do we realize we are making choices that will shorten our life? Do we remember that all moods pass? Do we remember how much grief our anger has caused us in the past? Are we willing to negatively complicate our lives, sometimes for a time much longer than our bad mood is likely to last? Has our anger and refusal to seek peace sometimes turned the tables so that we are the person who ends up making amends and asking forgiveness? Make an intention to find a way to calm yourself whenever you lose your peace.
