Laswitan Lagoon, a rock-bounded spot composing of three lagoons with varying sizes, recently made waves on the internet and got flashed on national TV. This lagoon, which is not one of the many beaches in the Philippines, provides a different taste of fun, giving you the special chance to get splashed by water from behind the rock boundaries of the lagoon.
I strongly recommend that you visit this place because this is just one of the variety of places Surigao del Sur has for travelers who are thirsty for new adventures. But before going to Laswitan Lagoon, there are things you should know:
1. Laswitan Lagoon is located in Barangay Madrelino, Cortes, Surigao del Sur. Just one ride away from Tandag City, which can be reached through airplane from Cebu and through land transpo from Butuan and Surigao, you can get to Cortes where Laswitan sits in a corner. Though it’s quite far, just think of how the travel will be worth it.
Laswitan’s peak season is during rainy seasons. When I took the video that went viral, it was during a rainy season. The preferred visitation time or the peak season of the lagoon is during -Ber months (September, October, November, and December) and the first months of the year.
The entrance fee is only 30 pesos. Unlike other spots, to enter the lagoon only costs 20 pesos. If you plan to visit it, the travel from Cortes to the lagoon proper costs around 35-50 pesos.
Life jackets are free for the whole day. If you want to assure safety while enjoying in the lagoon, life jackets are now made free for you and your kids since it is included in the entrance fee.
