It was nice to see us create so many chances in that second half. As well as his goals, Idah had another couple of. chances, Maeda had a sitter and a half chance, Kuhn had a chance, Scales near post header etc.... We created 5-6 good scoring chances in the 2nd half and we put 3 of them away. In the first half we created ONE clear cut chance for Kyogo and that was that. So the challenge is, how do we extend the 2nd half "chance creation" to the full 90 minutes? If we are creating 10-12 chances per game then it more or less guarantees the 3pts whether it's Kyogo, Idah or anyone else up front! We haven't put in a solid 90 minute performance since I don't know when, so I'm not going to get too carried away with one good 45 minutes vs a Motherwell side who were 2 wins in 22 games prior to Sunday.
Re Yang: He'd be ideal as that guy you bring on with 20-30 mins to go when the opposition are tiring and we can then turn 2-0 in to 3-0, 4-0 etc.... That's what his role should be just now. The problem is, we don't have anyone starting games ahead of him who is good enough to do the 60 minutes donkey work in the first place. Based on Sunday, Yang probably deserves to start vs Dundee but I don't think he'll be anywhere near as effective starting the game as he was coming off the bench. But this all circles back to our terrible summer & January recruitment. Why is a 21yo who has "Looked a bit raw" (to put it politely) so far this season, now our best option to start games on the right wing?
Why do u all b negative about Craig Gordon, We as a club treated him fukin shamefully wi a derisory offer, as wev done in the past, we have form fur it😮
You would give a guy on 3 million a season who’s overseen, a 10 point swing to a basket case of a club, knocked out of a cup at the first time of asking, failure in Europe, mass regression of the first team players, beat mciness 1 out of 4,had a go at fans, stuck up for the board and recruitment, spoke nothing but shite since he arrived. You would give him a 2nd season if he doesn’t win the league!! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ stay aff the glue mate ffs!
I think the difficulty is if you start Idah and Yang, are you going to get the same impact from them? Based on what we've seen from Yang, I'd say no, and we don't know with Idah yet. And then, if you're looking for a late surge, can you rely on Kyogo or Kuhn to make the difference on current form? Or even Palma? Going into March, and there's more maybes than certainties. Dundee isn't going to be easy for this team either. There's a chance that Beck just nullifies whoever is on his side, and I'm fairly confident he'll be comfortable against Kuhn, Yang, or Maeda, based on previous games. They'll play five at the back and we'll struggle to create. They'll stick Main and Bakayoko on Scales / Taylor and just watch them scramble with balls over the top. I never knew or cared who played for these teams last season, now I'm looking into their squads to see if they have a semi-sentient lump up top who'll look like a prime Ibrahimovic against us. The horror... the horror.
The huns will hurt is down that channel also. Clement will be planning it now - long over the top down the right, just like Aribo did shoving Taylor out the way and sending in crosses - Rogers needs to deal with glaring issues, change people and formations to fix problems
MOR was the invisible man at the weekend! Been poor for weeks. Thought Idah was excellent and should start from now on, unfortunately I don’t think that Kyogo is a Rodgers kind of striker, he’s just not being effective enough.
If Kyogo got the service we provided in the second half he would have def scored. Idah was great - our wingers are our biggest issue. AJ and Yang looked great together down the flank.
Imo I think the first half was not as bad as you are making out. We had Rocki, passed it forward more times in 45 mins than scales and Welsh combined for the season, and reads the game 1000x better than either of them. He needs bloody game time!!!! Apart from being skinned alive for their goal, Cal made a good few forward passes. (2nd half he was shocking) Just need to take chances. Id like to see us start that same 11 again. Iwata is a FAR FAR better CDM than Cal.
@@eliasmangi7593 Mate the first half was absolutely atrocious. We created one clear cut chance in the entire 45 mins. You may well be right about players needing game time etc... but we're neck & neck in a title run-in with 11 games to go and direct entry to the new CL format up for grabs.... We're well past the stage of giving lads a run-out to see if they're any good or not. Agree on Iwata
Absolute Brendan fanbhoys :) ....please stop blaming the players/wingers. Folk need to get over this idea that wingers are stand-alone entities that dribble past multiple players a la Jinky in the 60's/70's. Today's wingers (i.e. our wingers) are typically part of a triangle between themselves/inverted full back and midfielder, all rotating until space is found or defensive lines are broken. The fundamental problem is we have no structured patterns of play, be that out wide, counter attacking or in beating the press. THAT IS A COACHING/RODGERS PROBLEM not an individual player problem. Ange gave Celtic FC the blueprint for winning in Scotland against the low block and Rodgers has systematically dismantled that. He should be booted out the the door for that alone as it has set us back years and unless he allows these players to express themselves under a more Ange based system/with higher risk triangulated patterns of play (which is clearly how they want to play but aren't being instructed/allowed to) then this league will be done by the first week of April.
Ccv NEEDS intelligent management now. Wrap the guy up in wool. Ala paul mcgrath and hetate must be correctly eased in gradually. Clearly rushing these guys back is just loonacy and doesn't help at all. Wtf is going with that medical team BTW. Injuries. All over the place. Questions must be asked
Bit harsh to say Ralston just won't provide assists 2 games after his brilliant assist for Kyogo. Tbh problem is more that this season there isn't much if anything between Johnston and Ralston. Ralston maybe evenhits the byline more.
CCV was the difference. It was like we can play now anytime at the back CCV will take care of it. He calmed the whole team down and Celtic started playing their football.
Brings us back to the old problem and there are fans who actually saw that unfold in September. NONE of the 15?! signings was able to step into the team and improve it. You have to pay 7-10 million for that kind of player and yes, it might not always work but so what that's football. Not trying to get the best team on the park every transfer window now THAT's NOT football and unforgivable.
One good cross aside, Greg Taylor was abysmal on Sunday. No idea how you can see it any other way lads. And the Callum McGregor love in has to stop. Apart from one or two games, he’s been atrocious all season. Hardly “not amazing” as described. I get that you are bugging up the Scottish lads in the team but come on lads, call it as it’s been - they’ve both been shite all season.
Presenting for a five yard pass from your centre half and then giving it straight back to them is what he does 20 times a game now. Never turns on the ball and drives at teams. Rarely plays killer through balls. Barely influences games these days, never mind dominating any of them. That’s no what is required of a Celtic captain playing in the middle of the park. He form this season is reminiscent of the last days of Scott Brown in a Celtic shirt.
@hfitzsimon well said . Calmac has been utter shite, easily one of our worst performers for months . For me, he has two good games both against rangers. Ccv settled this team better in 1 half than our captain has managed in months!
Sydney Van Hooijdonk has played a total of 30 mins across 3 games and has 1 assist. Idah on the other hand has 4 goals and an assist. I wasnt overly impressed with the signing but hes proving me wrong and hopefully that continues
@@Neealc1888 Drop him/rest him. It is not good for any player to play practically every minute of every game, especially a guy in his 30's! Him and MOR have been flogged to death this season. It is not realistic to expect them to perform week-in week-out for the full 90 minutes
Here we go again - going after Scales - Still not convinced we will make a fight of it for the title and I hope we go into the last Derby in CP still in it. Taylor’s passing was shocking on Sunday the amount of times he gave away the ball in bad areas was unreal.
