Now that you've been on the pontoon for a year, would you change anything? How do you like the height of the rails? Would taller be better for safety or would taller rails interfere with shooting?
The only thing I would really like to change at this point is the size of the pontoons. The pontoons in the boat I bought are 19" diameter pontoons, that just don't have the size to carry as much as I'd like. 24"-26" diameter pontoons would just about double the amount of weight you can carry and would allow me to get into more shallow water. With these pontoons I can get into like 14"-"16" of water which is good but I'd like to be able to get into 10" or so. Other than that I've loved shooting off of it. It's super stable and easy to work from. I like the low rails and personally would never go over knee height because it makes the straight down shots hard. If you have watched my videos you'll see we shot a lot of snakeheads straight down so a high rail would get in the way. But overall 10/10 for bowfishing from a pontoon boat.
@@gnsoutdoors4020 that’s great info on the pontoon size. I’ll keep that in mind. Have you considered adding a third pontoon in the middle for more flotation? I have noticed you do a lot of vertical shots from the front of the boat. I could see how taller rails would be a problem. Thank you for the reply.
I have considered that, the down side is I would need a new trailer due to a tri-toon can't go on the center lift trailer and I really like the ease of use and versatility of the center lift trailer.
