Hello fellow Gardeners! Here in this video, I am sharing our late July garden tour, located in Sammamish, WA.
Oriental Lilies are glorious right now! I planted mix of Stargazer and Salmon Star Lilies in late Winter this year. But I don’t see any Salmon Stars, maybe there was some mistake in packaging. Regardless, all the Lilies are beautiful, and their fragrance is wonderful. I can spend hours in their company ;)
Some of my seed started perennials have started flowering, including Feverfew, Rudbeckia Hirta, Lupine, Yarrow and Erigeron. Seed started Shasta Daisies, Helenium and Sedums are getting ready to flower. Some other ones like Cone Flowers, Candytuft, Orange Milkweed, Globe thistle and so on, are nowhere close to flower this year. So, we will have to wait.
Our newly planted Hydrangeas are doing alright. We planted two Vanilla - Strawberry ones in Winter and three Hydrangea Macrophylla early Spring. We don’t have much color this year from them, as we are getting them established and I did remove all the flowers from Hydrangea Macrophylla.
I am growing Dahlias for the first time this year. They are growing very fast and producing many buds. I do see some black Aphids on them. But nothing too serious, so I will let the nature take care of it. There is a Ladybug living there and sometimes I see Hummingbird catch Aphids too!
We are slowly introducing deer resistant plants in our Side Sloped Garden. And so far, plants are looking alright with occasional nibbling here and there, as that area is visited by Bambi everyday (sometimes more than once a day). The biggest challenges of our front garden are Deers and Rabbits. I am sure that is the case for many gardeners! I was very disappointed in the beginning when I started planning our garden. We have full sun south facing garden and I wanted to fill the area with many Roses. But then came all the critters! Now my new vision is to create more colorful garden full of pollinator friendly plants (mostly deer and rabbit resistant). I like to believe that challenges give us unique/new direction, which we usually don’t consider/take. And with that thought, Enjoy Gardening!
Thank you for your time! Please like, subscribe and comment if you have any thoughts about this garden, or gardening in general!
