Maybe…Cause they can’t be inside? I can’t grow succs inside, except Haworthia, and if they are inside, they need as much sun as possible. It’s funny bc outdoors, sun can burn them, but inside it’s basically considered dark to them. So they can actually handle more sun indoors. The issue then becomes airflow; if you don’t have good circulation (not cold drafts tho), then the soil moisture doesn’t evaporate fast enough before it’s too late. Only water when it’s dry all the way. They prefer outdoor living tbh, but that can only happen in a California garden, like mine, lol. Basically, zone 9 and below, and succulents can survive but need protection from cold and heat. In reality, they prefer zones 10-12. The hotter, sunnier, wetter or colder it is, the more they need protection. Airflow is always important. Drainage is key. Forgetting about them is also important. Haha. That’s the secret kinda. Only then will we allow the soil to fully dry! If we look at plants all the time, or they’re in our view in a place we see it easily, that’s when we can overthink and kill with kindness… aka overwatering. The best plants for inside are the needy, thirsty ones, like ferns, prayer plants, peace lilies, alocasia, etc.; of course all mine are in an outdoor shade house struggling lmao. In our frigid 50°F nights in California. Haha. 70° daytime! What struggles.

Best shade or indoor succulent species is Haworthia. For real. Can handle low water, lower light, but need airflow. Indoors, need a sunny window. Or grow lights. Then you can grow much more plants.
