You can smell the gin-sweat in this final, really-no-kidding final show of the season, as Kris Kristofferson slurs his way through the evening and musical guest (and wife of the host) Rita Coolridge Hoola Hoops her way into our hearts. It's a perfectly average show, if I'm honest, but a fun end to the season. Stay tuned for a Season Wrap-Up video, and then onward to Two!

Ironically the episode aired on Wesley Snipes birthday Kris Kristofferson and Wesley Snipes would be co-stars for the Blade trilogy between 1998 and 2004

I remember when he went on Donny and Marie in a Star Wars parody, and he was creeping on Marie.

Was it just the missed episodes or was there an idea that the show could be year-round like Carson?

From what I've read, there was never any discussion of the show being produced year-round. It was simply a matter of NBC wanting to ride the momentum from that 1st Season Emmy win, not realizing the writers/crew/cast were spent by that late point in the season. They never tried summer shows again after this, and I'd say it's fair to blame that on the poor quality of these two episodes.
