Bill decides to take a moonlight stroll in the woods in this scene from Joe Dante's The Howling. Featuring masterful creature effects by Rob Bottin on his first solo job as a special effects make-up artist.
From the director of Gremlins and Piranha comes the ultimate masterpiece of primal terror. Filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense, "genuine thrills [and] amazing special effects" (Us), this riveting werewolf tale sinks its teeth into your deepest fears and never lets go.
Severely shaken after a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer, TV newscaster Karen White (Dee Wallace, E.T.) takes some much-needed time off. Hoping to conquer her inner demons, she heads for "the Colony," a secluded retreat where her new neighbors are just a tad too eager to make her feel at home. Also, there seems to be a bizarre link between her would-be attacker and this supposedly safe haven. And when, after nights of being tormented by savage shrieks and unearthly cries, Karen ventures into the forest to find answers, she makes a terrifying discovery. Now she must fight not only for her life... but for her very soul!

I agree....I've loved this one since I saw it as a kid...it's funny how many comedic roles Robert Picardo had after this, because to this day Eddie Quist is still the scariest werewolf ever, even before his transformations... his ratty apartment, his drawings....his escape from the morgue... the movie builds his mystique really well.

Why they never made a Rambo movie based upon a theme or subject such as this is beyond me, and a bit of a letdown. For Stallone should have jumped at the chance to write and star in such a movie, Rambo vs werewolves. That would have been SPECTACULAR AND SPELLBINDING! And fucking hilarious! Actually, Rambo would be overjoyed and elated to battle it out with this pack of savage, bloodthirsty and insane werewolves, as that is what he loves to do! The supernatural meets superman (Rambo). Ah, the blood that would flow just inspires the Shakespeare deep within.

I'd pay a dollar to see horror/survival movie packed with ex-action stars from 80's and 90's. Something like mix of Predator and Dog Soldiers, but starring Arnie, Stallone, Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Carl Waters etc. That would be something :D

Actually they did that with Steven Selgul where he battle vampires. It was interesting and a new twist in his career.
@esperago

And you know that, plot twist, the movie would end with Rambo becoming a werewolf, which would lead to a sequel in which he leads his pack across the land, ravaging the countryside as an anti-hero. Bowie knife wielding, werewolf super-Rambo!

Here's a story for you: In 1984, my parents had The Howling on beta-max. I was four years old and one time when they were out, I snuck and put this "not allowed to watch" movie in the machine. I sat and watched the whole thing, scared outta my effing mind. Why I didn't turn it off is beyond me. I was deathly afraid of nighttime, bedtime, what's behind shower curtains or in dark rooms at the end of hallways for basically, the next entire decade. FML. As a result of my experience, I highly suggest that four year olds NOT watch this movie.

cause if you were attacked by a werewolf and was losing a decent amount of blood from the attack' then you'd be limping like he was too plus his body was in shock from the attack, so in a way... you can't really blame him for hurting the way he was in this movie's plus it was designed to scare you
