Late season deer hunting on public land in Michigan or really anywhere can come with a lot of challenges. Although I’ve harvested my largest Michigan buck during the late season it’s not always my favorite time of year to hunt. What is nice is FRESH TRACKING SNOW! Follow along with me to find out if we can get one down while looking for fresh sign in the snow!

Thanks for the video. I walk my dog on the trails in that area most days at lunchtime. I've noticed several deer trails between the area you were and the white oaks on the hills to the southwest. Good luck the rest of your season and Merry Christmas!

Great video Luke, hope to see you in Kroger again some time so I can show you some great spots where we live on my hunting app. Been hunting in northern Oakland county for at least 30 years and have some sweet honey holes on state land. I have had some great hunts in are area. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Top notch Musky in the river I grew up on.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and watching Robert! I frequent Kroger so I’m sure I will see you again soon. I only live around the corner. I’m still relatively new to the area but have had some success finding spots that hold deer. I actually live up against Orion oaks and there is some big bucks I get on camera back there but nothing I’ve encountered in daylight has been worth taking. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! The musky video should be a great overall video once I finally call it quits for the season. Heading back out in the morning!

I was definitely going to give it a go in Oakland Co this January but I messed up my back and herniated a couple discs.... I'm curious what your experience is with the jogger and dog walkers over their for that time of year... I used to work in Auburn hills and did some bow hunting after work in a few locations and I have a hard time being able to sit in a stand as I watch 20 or 30 people walk by giving a deer hunter stink eye... It seems like most of the State game areas over there are more or less a park with some form of a trail system every 75 yards so it was kinda tuff getting away from the Karen's of Oakland county.

I’ve honestly never had too much of a problem with them. In the county parks there is more of them but if you can get out there on a weekday morning it’s not too bad. But you are 100% correct. There is a lot of trail systems in most of the state parks. I’d do some online scouting to try to find less populated areas. Also I really like going early season for best odds of getting a deer on the state game or county parks.
