Hi guys-I'm always a little jealous of how good east coast gardens look in late summer and early fall. 6 months of no rain takes it's toll herein z9 Calif. On the other hand , I can garden year round. Trade offs ! I discovered last year that Heliotrope (the classic variety 'Marine') is really easy from seed. I'm going to sow a bunch in spring. I get my seeds from Swallowtail which is in Sonoma County so close for me-I imagine there are choices out your way. You should give it a try !

Just a thought chaps - but if you bumped out the bed with surefire begonia by about 6 feet it would really add a little privacy and mystery to the hydrangea room. Whatever you do, it is all so beautiful. X

I made the mistake of planting a mugo pine thinking it was going to stay compact. It is now at least 12-15 feet tall and about 10 feet wide. It's a good thing I had a lot of room and it is beautiful. I'm also in zone 3, so I can't imagine how big yours will grow. Maybe you guys have a dwarf version or something? Btw, you guys continue to be such an inspiration.

I see that you have some tags for your plants, other than the ones from the nursery. Where did you get them and how long does the writing last?

Since we work with some brands they will sample newer varieties for us to trial. Those are usually the ones that have the tags. We really appreciate getting to share upcoming releases

Boy I just love this time of year for the garden... it's like everything took a collective sigh. There is such beauty in the fade. Q for you guys- would an oakleaf hydrangea do okay in very moist shade? Or is it better with some part sun in your experience? (I have 2 possible spots)
@growformegardening
@growformegardening 17 часов назад
I don't think moist shade would be a good idea...part shade without the moisture would be better. The ones that we have in more shade are slower growing but ok overall

The Rise Up Rose is better treated as a small climber up to 6-8 ft. I have mine on an arbor and it’s great. Just plant it in the ground and grow it on an obelisk or trellis and it will be lovely. Love your garden and channel so much 💕

I see you have a section of rock around the foundation of your side yard. What is the average depth of this flower bed? I'm putting in a new flower bed again my home and really think I should add rock against the house for drainage.
@growformegardening

It varies in depth, we like to have the garden edges curvy. I think it is minimum of 3 feet up to 5 feet

When your Troemner Spruce gets giant, you can limb it up from the bottom, and change part of the garden to shade plants. My mom did this at my childhood home, and it looks great. The tree is still there after 60 years!
